Gabba and Gold Coast had so many games that year.. in the not effected State of QLD
90% of games were empty.

(if i were the AFL i would play MAGIC in Sydney)

1. 90 percent were not empty.

2. People couldn't travel to QLD from interstate.

3. People still concerned with Covid

4. I believe limits still on crowds - yes, pretty sure there was.

5. A targeted one off weekend event is different to playing across a season.

6. You have many more AFL supporters in QLD than Sydney.

6. Definitely a lot of ex-pat victorians and South Aussies here but there is also a lot of local support too. People have been coming to SE QLD for generations - and continue to do so - this all flows down to local support as their kids have kids, and have kids. Also SE QLD has a long history with Aussie Rules going back to the early days - unlike sydney area. You want to see the impact of migration from South Australia and Victoria - go to Port Douglas where Aussie Rules is the dominant sport in this small little town - of which I will be visiting in 4 weeks once more and retiring to in 2 years (counting the days)

I am pretty sure the AFL only did a night Grand Final because those games were in Brisbane (2020) & Perth (2021) because of Covid in Melbourne. Nothing to do with the NRL

Now it is back at the home of football it will stay at the 2:30pm timeslot.

Why would the AFL want to do a magic round like the NRL! I just don't get it.

Obviously it works in the NRL as no one goes to the games in Sydney so doing it in Brisbane makes sense for the NRL cause they really have nothing to lose.

AFL would be stupid to copy this ridiculous thing as they don't need to as they get massive crowds to most games unlike the NSWRL. Oh sorry the NRL

I agree, silly idea and no need for it…not worth the money.
Depending on where its played, may attract similar crowds that the NRL round does…and that would be disastrous.
I would be surprised if it lasts more than a season.
