oh dear is right, that is a really amusing thread to start beaussie. Looks to me that you are now trying to state the obvious, that there is more interest in RL in Melb then there is in AFL in Bris or Syd on a state by state basis. [/quote]
Really???
Oh deary me, how would you come that conclusion based a crowd of just 14k and an abysmal 86k watching the minor premiers live on tv easily winning their final.
Compare the
86k for the Storm with the tv ratings for the Swans final on Saturday night -
121k up against a live NRL final.
Dogs wrote:- You are comparing a one off live RL game in Melb versus AFL that is telecast every week in these capital cities. With this in mind there is only 20K less viewers in melb (only) than in Syd and Bris combined, where AFL has 3.25 teams of so called loyal followers.
20k less??? What drugs are you on?
Dogs wrote:- You keep telling us AFL is strong in Syd and Brisbane, yet only 43k watch a live game in Syd and only 63K watch the same live game in Bris. It should also be noted that the only viewing competition at the time AFL start was Union as RL did not start 3:30 (I bet of the 106K allot of them switch over when the RL started)
And unlike the NRL the 63k and 43k were for an AFL game that didn't involve the local teams. Meanwhile as has been pointed out, just 86k bothered to tune in to see the minor premiers Melbourne Storm win their final on Sunday when the game was broadcast live.

Under all these circumstances, I believe channel 9 would be very happy with one of melb's first live games attracting 86K viewers versus your Aeriel Ballet in 2 states that are already used to watching AFL weekly getting 106K of viewers.
Again 14k crowd and just 86k watching on tv. Abysmal and Channel 9 will no doubt use such figures to demonstrate the lack of interest in the NRL outside of NSW and QLD. Channel 9 happy with
86,000 viewers whilst Channel 7 had
517,000 at the same time??? You're off ya head Dogs.
