the aflol have the offers from foxtel & Ch 7 based on no change to the current format
a CPI increase .. nothing more.
7/foxtel have seen off the aflol's fake bidding tension & called their bluff so theres no valid reason to pay any more , they're business's not charities.

the AFL signed a 2 year deal extension with new rights 2023 and 2024
NRL have signed a 5 year extension beginning in 2023 and ending in 2027

the deals done between the codes when NRL includes the Dolphins extra money has AFL slightly ahead.

the current negotiation's, who knows...
if the AFL get a better deal than the recent 2 year extension, it will effect the fans, the players will get more money and the fans less FTA

AFL rights for 2023-24 went for 473m pa. (946m over years)
NRL rights for the same period to 2027 went for "over 400m" pa.

Doesn't the AFL contract for 2023 - 24 include Telstra 5g sponsorship Wookie as well as possible unknown other. And surely the fact that they will fail to make a profit in those 2 years must also come into it .

Commercial in confidence becase the ARLC is shit scared of being swamped by the AFL after their announcement AGAIN as has happened every time since 2001.

If it was high enough theyd have announced a higher figure. No one says "400m+" if its a lot higher.

It includes Telstra sponsorship. Seven, Fox and Telstra were all part of the announcement. Like the League announcement, no one really knows what the contra part is - although the AFL have continued to release this figure every year.

Whether they profit or loss is irrelevant to the amount they get for rights in this context. The AFL predict a return to normal revenue levels in 2024, this is not the same as making a loss in 2023-24.
