yea , but pussy was saying he thinks gil the dill is including this & naming sponsorship money as well to get it up to that 473 mill a year claim
but even that doesn't get them there. Nowhere near it infact
they get 18 mill a year for naming rights so with the new mobile digital content deal of 12 million a year
thats 30 mill
Telstra used to put in 68.5 million PA for naming & mobile rights
the value of their deal is going backwards from 418 million a year , not forwards to 473.
It just doesn't add up![]()

Re: Channel 9 signs $650mill tv Deal
so
heres a little ditty thats not behind a paywall so we can all read it
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-06-12/ ... l/12348794
It raises serious doubts about the derps & giggles claim that it will get a significant increase in its deal in 2023/24
with this line here being a damning reality for our little tight shorts & singlets brigade.
It is the first time since 1971 that the AFL has signed a reduced broadcast agreement.

Re: Channel 9 signs $650mill tv Deal
some more analysis here to give us some idea where the 2 codes are in their deals presently & what happened to their old deals signed before covid
the NRL
2018-19 380 Million PA
Foxtel- 240
9 -120
NZ- 20
in 2020 the NRL renegotiated deals with 9 & foxtel due to covid & decided to take a reduction over 2 years from Ch 9 , some 55 to 60 million less in those years then the original deal. Foxtel & the NRL signed a reduced annual amount of 220 mill PA but extended the deal through to the end of 2027
NRL
2020-21 330 Million PA
Foxtel- 220
9 - 90
NZ -20
NRL
2022 360 Million PA
Foxtel -220
9 -120 ( back to the original amount
NZ -20
in 2023 the NRL will expand its comp by 1 team & an extra 12 games , & signed new agreements with all its broadcast partners til the end of 2027
NRL
2023-27 402 Million
Foxtel - 240
Ch 9 - 130
NZ - 32
The NRL has not ruled out admitting another team in the life of this new broadcast deal & will if it believes its commercially viable & benefits the game as a whole.
This would add another 20 million PA to the deal if this occurs.

Re: Channel 9 signs $650mill tv Deal
The Awful
2017-19 418 Million PA
Foxtel - 220
Ch 7 -148
Telstra - 50
Telstra relinquished its rights to live streaming mobile rights in 2020 signing a new deal for 60 million for 5 years from 2020 to reflect its new role in the game . The awful was forced to renegotiate new deals with Ch 7 & foxtel as a result of covid but spread its pain out over 3 years instead of the 2 by the NRL.
Ch 7 signed a 5 year deal worth 730 million til the end of 2024 paying a drastically reduced amount in the years 2020,21 & 22 ( thought to be 87 mill less) & the balance of the 730 mill over the final 2 years of 23 & 24
Foxtel got their annual amount reduced by 30 mill pa for the 3 years 20-22 but reinstated the original amount for the final 2 years of 220 mill to be paid in 23-24
Awful
2020-22 321 Million PA
Foxtel -190
Ch 7 - 119
Telstra - 12
Awful
2023-24 418 Million PA
Foxtel - 220
Ch 7 - 186
Telstra - 12
this is where we are at folks.
