No doubt it will rate, maybe even better than usual with the weather, lockdown, curiosity, it’s an event not too sure many AFL fans would deny it.

ive seen jealous fumblers chuck tantys & dismiss it as nothing more then a gimmick , an exhibition match

Still doesn't change the evdience provided by the games played in isolation vs not

you would have a massive point if your games were exclusive to FOX>> therefore limiting numbers, but they are not..
Games have FTA components which make up the difference..

Last sat nights single game rated well over 1 mil despite involving 1 city only. It rated about 250k more than other Saturday nights when 2 games were combined. Yes Melbourne's lockdown would have increased the ratings by 100k at least, but even taking 100k away the ratings show our FTA gain with 2 concurrent games is way overplayed, and probably barely relevant

I think the AFL looks at it is, targeting home states on FTA. increases exposure..

i think we came to the understanding..

the AFL ratings will be a positive some weeks and a negative some weeks.

3M!!!!!!!!!!!!! In the current climate of falling FTA numbers across the board that is a great result. Particularly as the game was over before 1/2 time and ended up a record margin!!!!!

I do however fear for the remaining 2 games. Qld RL's supposed elite players are few and far between. All their NRL teams are hopeless and their origin team reflects that.

I can see a 3 game whitewash with big margins in each. That is not good for the concept. In fact that is what killed AFL SOO although the bubble dwellers will of course but but but!!!!

The Qlder's need a miracle. I can't see one coming!!!!

Yep i think the 3Mill Plus is the norm, That was a special Origin Period between 2010 and 2014.

NSW looked slick and too fast last night,
QLD will be better come Origin 2 with a few added stars...
i think no matter what happens NSW Win Game 3 either way..

QLD need more NRL Teams to compete at Origin Level.

I'd say the blowout score line cost plenty of numbers generally. I turned it off in the second half and only switched back a couple of times to get the score. First time I've ever done that during SOO.

The peak number would be interesting. I suspect there would have been a much bigger drop from peak to average than usual.

Also big news breaking in Victoria with Buckley quitting Collingwood - This would have been leading the news let alone the sport so some focus taken off it. Although it is still lockdown so going by the theory here should have rated better.
