Re: AFL - The ugly game.
Lol because there is no penalty for being unco
No penalty for not kicking straight
No penalty for fumbling.
So there is no requirement to be "skilled "
Hence why the game is ugly .
It's full of long distance runners who have very little skill .

There has been an outcry about the ugly congested game for at least 2 decades now. Year after year it come ups. Year after year new rules are brought in. Year after the year it just gets uglier and uglier!!!!!
Here's a little article talking about the ugly zones, presses, floods and slow tempo football from the start. It credits Rodney Eade as bringing in flooding while at Sydney in 1996..................yep 1996!!!!!!! That's 24 years ago pal!!!!!!!!!!
Seems I know more about your fave game than you do. Not surprising really lololololol!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: AFL - The ugly game.
Single coaches brought in ugly defensive tactics in the late 1990s but these tactics werent widely adopted by all coaches until the last decade. Most fans have waited for the game to either evolve on its own to more attacking style, or have waited for minor rule changes to help. So far they haven't so now you see the outcry. There was opinion beforehand but now its getting critical

Re: AFL - The ugly game.
The ugly state of AFL seems to be the greatest blight on the game ever!!!!! Everyone in good 'ol Melbourne town seems to be talking about and has an opinion. Here's another article:
https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2020/ ... l-football
Here's a few excerpts:
"Just what has happened to the game of AFL?". "Our games in a dreadful space". Gilty McLa$$lan recently "begged the coaches to be more attacking". "The footy field has never more crowded. It resembles a mosh pit". "The talent pool has thinned. A decade ago, the AFL added two clubs that barely anyone wanted. Now there are 44 players running around who would be playing in the lower leagues".
And here's something to think about, "A remarkable number of teenagers were now being drafted via the Victorian private school system. Kids from disadvantaged backgrounds and remote communities were increasingly being lost to the game." Wow.
And there's more: "It's a mess". Lolololololol. I think we've heard that before!!! And it goes on and on and on.
Great article!!!!!!!! The fumbling game is in real trouble!!!!!!

Re: AFL - The ugly game.
You have absolutely no cognitive abilities at all! I totally agree with article. I just don't agree with your take on why. You claim it's due to rules that have been around since the game began. The article and i believe its due to recent changesAFLcrap1 wrote: Fri Jul 03, 2020 11:53 amLol
