NRL 2020 season coronavirus updates: NRL clubs at ‘war’
Some clubs have reportedly threatened to take the NRL to court after a pay dispute erupted following Monday’s historic announcement.

The NRL will immediately start searching for ways to resume its season as it aims to limit the first postponement in the league’s history.
The NRL on Monday halted play without putting a timeline on the suspension of the competition, but warned things would likely get worse before they get better.
Here’s the latest:
“ARMAGEDDON”: NRL CLUBS AT “WAR”
The 16 NRL clubs are reportedly in disagreement over the NRL’s funding scheme after the 2020 premiership was postponed on Monday.
The NRL implements an equal-funding model where every club is granted the same amount of money every year, unlike the AFL, who provide more funds to the bigger clubs.
Daily Telegraph journalist Paul Kent reported NRL chief financial officer Tony Crawford proposed a rescue package – worth $153 million – to combat the season’s lockdown, which would be distributed according to the needs of individual clubs.
However, some of NRL’s more successful clubs believe they are entitled to the same amount of funding, and Kent said on NRL 360, has caused some “argy-bargy”.
“When Tony Crawford put this model to the clubs that they would basically be bailing them out with funding and that they would be meeting different costs that the clubs are going through, some clubs said there’s no way we’re standing for that, it’s an equal funding model and that’s what we’ll be insisting upon,” Kent said on Tuesday evening.

“They’re presenting this unified front that we’re all in this together, but the clubs are in dispute with each other over funding.
“There’s been a bit of argy-bargy about that – there’s been threats of taking the NRL to court over it.
“The clubs are fighting, that’s the issue. If they can’t resolve that, we’re in a bit of trouble.”

it has billion dollar tv contracts in place, private owners worth hundreds of millions, mini casinos league clubs turning over millions on millions to hundreds of millions, who use tax payer money to build under ground car parks, a code that all clubs has home club grounds paid for by the tax payer someone no other league has in Australia and a governing body that with in days the government suggested that sporting codes may be effected its CEO went begging to the prime minister whilst dealing with a unknown national and world crisis demanding hundreds of millions for hand outs so he and his over paid fast cats and welfare league can stay afloat

im sure the individual clubs owners can throw in extra money, or open the sellers to those mini casinos and put a bit of cash in to the nrlol club or even borrow against the asset.

no they see them self more important than sick people with Australia and world venturing in to unknown territory, no known vaccinations, businesses closing or being effected, a potential for economies yo cal calapse..

The NRL's call for $500 million of NSW government funds, which have been tucked away for stadium infrastructure, to be redistributed to sports is set to fall on deaf ears.

ARL Commission chairman Peter V'landys on Tuesday briefed all 16 clubs on the NRL's potential courses of action to try and save the game. One of those plans was a pitch to Premier Gladys Berejiklian.
