Thanks pal. Sorry to worry you. It's just that I can't find any figures that add up to that amount in the AR. No doubt it is my ignorance. I will take another look and let you know what I come up with.The_Wookie wrote: Sat Feb 15, 2020 12:42 pmyou can ask. Re: Fight Club - Football Club Memberships
How can a club which only half fills its stadium twice a season, gives countless free tickets away & has so few supporters based on TV audience, generate such income?The_Wookie wrote: Fri Feb 14, 2020 2:12 pmHead office revenue and membership revenue are reported separately.ParraEelsNRL wrote: Fri Feb 14, 2020 12:47 pmHead office money is not revenue idiot.
How could they be making anything when all their so called supporters would fit in a phone booth. Thickshit.
And just for comparison
Match Returns (Membership/Season Tickets & Gate)
GWS – $4,418,738 (includes merch)
Swans - Sydney – $16,375,126 (+ $766k in merch)
Parramatta - $2,762,078 (+693k in merch)
Penrith - $2,250,000 (+1.398m in merch)
Roosters - $1,798,624 (+518k in merch/royalties) + possible 1.7m in members subs.
Bulldogs - $2,273,274 (+$995k in merch)
Sharks -$973,042 + possible $2,092,248 in members subs. (+1.6m in merch)
Maybe includes fee paid by ACT government?

Re: Fight Club - Football Club Memberships
Thanks pal. That's the figure I came up with. Having perused AR's from different sports its seems it is rather hard to have direct comparisons due to the differing methods of reporting. It does however seem rather strange GWS add match receipts with AFL distribution. No other AFL club reports it that way that I have perused.The_Wookie wrote: Sat Feb 15, 2020 1:21 pmOk my first figure is wrong, because i didnt caculuate in 1.984m in other AFL distributions.Terry wrote: Sat Feb 15, 2020 12:49 pmThanks pal. Its because the match receipts and the AFL distribution are combined in the GWS report, To get the match reciepts you need to subtract the AFL Distribution which isnt listed in the GWS report, but is listed in the AFL repor.
GWS Report -
AFL Distributions and Match Reciepts - 25,692,602
Membership and Merchandise - 1,870,350
AFL Report
22,876,000 + 1,984,000 = 24,860,000
therefore - Match Receipts = 25,692,602 - 24,860,000 = 832,602
GWS MAtch Receipts/Memberships and Merchandise = 832,602 + 1870350 = $2,702,952
Amended first post.
Match Returns (Membership/Season Tickets & Gate)
GWS – $2,702,952 (includes merch)
Swans - Sydney – $16,375,126 (+ $766k in merch)
Parramatta - $2,762,078 (+693k in merch)
Penrith - $2,250,000 (+1.398m in merch)
Roosters - $1,798,624 (+518k in merch/royalties) + possible 1.7m in members subs.
Bulldogs - $2,273,274 (+$995k in merch)
Sharks -$973,042 + possible $2,092,248 in members subs. (+1.6m in merch)
And when comparing GWS with GC Suns there is a massive difference. GC had average crowds of 13.5k & membership of 12k and showed $7.5M for membership/ticketing/merch for 2018. GWS had 12k avg crowds and 25k membership for $2.7M. By the numbers GWS should have taken more money. Instead they barely got 1/3 of the Suns amount. Weird!!!

Re: Fight Club - Football Club Memberships
Actually my figure was slightly different to Wookies. It was reported that GWS got additional support of $2.5M from the AFL during 2018. Meaning GWS' total would have been $2.2M all up for members/ticketing/merch. However the money was in 2 separate loans so there is a possibility the half mill loan may have fallen into another financial year.
Having said that Wookie says his numbers are from the AFL AR so that is probably correct.

Re: Fight Club - Football Club Memberships
Update: I've taken a look at the AFL AR 2018. The 'other' distributions Wookie spoke about do not relate to the loans given by the AFL.Terry wrote: Sat Feb 15, 2020 2:22 pmActually my figure was slightly different to Wookies. or even the broncos a loan team in Brisbane

ARU $27 million
NRLOL $25 million

Not bad for a little regional club.
Would you care to give me an AFL comparison for the Eels in regards to support, prestige etc. ? More Pies or North?
Never realised quite how much hate there was for AFL from our Northern friends.

Re: Fight Club - Football Club Memberships
if your comparing Geelong to NRL club it would be Newcastle Knights from a regional point of view.
Not to sure what there membership base is at the moment.
