Mr Raider, it's a false argument to try and suggest that a game is doomed simply because it failed to rate it's boots off in one city. May I suggest you compare the attendance of the game to attendances at NRL games in Sydney if you wish to truly indicate the state of the game in the harbour city?

attendances are one part of the equation , but its not a pretty picture for giggleball here either .... the NRL has up to 170,000 regular attendees for its sport in the City of Sydney compared to the AFL's approx 26 to 27,000
so there is no comparison there.... to suggest its because the NRL has more clubs as being the sole reason is also naive & misguided
if the AFL increased its number of clubs in Sydney to 9 do you seriously think it could also maintain an average of 17K like the NRL has
I think not .... in fact I'd say it will barely be above this next year with 2 sides in our countrys largest city

but even if the stadiums were full for Swans games in Sydney
( which they are not .. they are barely half full ) then where would Sydneysiders get their weekly fix of AFL then ?.. of course in their living rooms on TV.. a great gauge of the depth of interest in most things
I mean if you can't even be bothered to push a botton on a remote to watch something.. you are hardly interested are you ?
so how is your game doing on the box in Sydney ?

ah .. 8-[ .... ummm :-k :?
it can't outrate a re run of the brady bunch

In a city of 4 million people, I would have thought that 170,000 was a serious problem and not something to crow about. In a city not that much smaller (Melbourne) the total AFL attendance is much higher. In the other direction, the Swans are doing better in average terms than the Storm.

in a city of 4.5 million people ... I would have thought 27,000 is an even bigger problem & even less to crow about

Swans have been up here for 30 years
the Storm a mere 13 in Melbourne

lets see how the Storm are doing in 2028

In a city that is not AFL heartland I would call 27,000 a rather good result.

Meanwhile in Melbourne we have much more than 170,000 going to games in it's heartland.

I refuse to make future predictions. Only fools engage in that sort of conduct.

Oh and Storm are on top of the ladder, play in finals just about every season and go on to win premierships. Is there a bandwagon developing? Haha, as if... Average crowds of 13k in sports mad Melbourne. Any wonder why they lose more than $10 million a season? Any wonder why News Ltd is desperate to get out of the game. Absolute rabble and the locals in Melbourne cannot stand them. Don't take my word for it, just look at the abysmal home town support the Storm attract.
