MG Ramps up calls for NRL expansion team in Perth
Mark Geyer has called for the NRL to give itself a shot in the arm and expand immediately.
The former Western Reds player has told Triple M, there's no better way to announce expansion, for the coming years, ahead of State of origin II set to take place infront of a sellout crowd in Perth at Optus stadium.

For State of Origin to be an expected sellout in Perth, I don't think there will be a lack of interest.Nrlolol wrote: Sat Feb 23, 2019 1:03 amWA law no pokes out side of the Casio!

Test matches and exhibition matches have all gotten good crowds there too.
If a professional rugby league team can be set up in Toronto Canada, where the sport was basically unknown before.
It can be done in Perth for sure.

Re: MG Ramps up calls for NRL expansion team in Perth
MG was right, the only reason the Western Reds are not still in Perth is the Super League war at the time.Beaussie wrote: Fri Feb 22, 2019 8:25 pmBeen there, done that. History repeating itself. Result last time was a massive financial failure. Good luck NRL lol
The ARL spent a fortune fighting Super League in court which starved the organization of funds available for new clubs.
A team has been set up in Canada (Toronto Wolfpack) which is a much tougher market than Perth. So anything is possible.

Look at Melbourne! SOO sells out yet the Minnowbourne Storm are the more irrelevant minnow professional football team in Melbourne! And have been a financial
toilet! Despite being one of the most successful teams in the NRLOL the past 20 years!

Actually Melbourne are probably the best run and most professional club in the NRL after Brisbane. They are the envy of a lot of teams.Nrlolol wrote: Sat Feb 23, 2019 8:12 amSOO is a state vs state eventNRL&NFLweLaughATafl wrote: Sat Feb 23, 2019 6:36 amFor State of Origin to be an expected sellout in Perth, I don't think there will be a lack of interest.Nrlolol wrote: Sat Feb 23, 2019 1:03 amWA law no pokes out side of the Casio!

While they will never be like a Collingwood in Melbourne. They have calved out a good niche market.
Perth could definitely work, especially now that the Western Force are gone. A lot of Rugby fans do like League too as a second choice.

Lol the storm are the most irrelevant professional football team in Melbourne and have been a financial sink hole! Despite all their success!
Just how quickly their Little Minnow bandwagon fan base drop off when they stop planing in grand finals!
The nrlol club financial plain poke ownership 101 is not allowed other thanx to local WA law!
But please I really do hope the NRLOL puts a team over there as itβs a disastrous waiting to happen

Jesus
We're back on the poke poke rant .
How predictable
Simple fact for the simpletons ...any new RL team must have a financial model that satisfies the ARLC .
They must be self sufficient

We have been through this that many times! The majority of the nrlolol clubs are worthless pieces of crud! With little ability to raise funds other ways
Some of the other financial models is to have ve news Corp own a side like the broncos or minnowbourne storm whore the sides out to make em relevant, or like the titans or knights have wealthy owners pump money down the

Same rants over & over .

Re: MG Ramps up calls for NRL expansion team in Perth
Most nrl clubs are owned by league clubs! Check the gaming laws in WA then youβll find one of the reasons why financially why a team doesnβt exist in Perth!AFLcrap1 wrote: Sun Feb 24, 2019 12:39 amLol

Then why canβt pokes be mentioned then the Adam Goodes saga and AFL hush money is regularly mentioned on every 3rd thread
Always gets brought up as you league loonies are trying to cover up for some sheer embarrassing incident in the pathetic game of league

Re: MG Ramps up calls for NRL expansion team in Perth
Yes we know the gaming laws in WA
I've already stated that a new club has to have a viable financial model .
Yet all you do is rant the same crap over & over .

Re: MG Ramps up calls for NRL expansion team in Perth
As much as I respect MG, really I do, he clearly hasn't thought this through.
The "shot in the arm" he mentioned by setting up a team in Perth would require millions and millions and millions of $$$ and sustained effort.
Two things the NRlilL don't have.
Plus there's already a highly successful and profitable code engrained in the fabric of WA.
NRlilL pipe dream. Imo
