they've never had a home team, the local population support existing AFL teams. In fact if the AFL did create a new Tasmanian club they would face challenges never seen by a new AFL club before.AFLcrap1 wrote: Wed Dec 26, 2018 3:53 pmOh for fucks sake .
They don't have a HOME TEAM ......pleases read again.... a HOME team to follow .
That's why they don't go ..plus
Many have the shits with the AFL for taking their best players from the local comps ... yet never giving them their own team
Why would you support other FIFo VICTORIAN...not a tAS team just VICTORIAN teams .
There's no local affiliation.....nothing.
. How the fuck can you not understand that ?
The Eagles were created prior to a national comp so the locals were supporting WAFL clubs. They had a massive population just waiting for a local club to take on the VFL. The Crows were in a similar situation to the eagles.
The dockers and power were powerhouses of the WAFL and SANFL so their supporter base was well established prior to entering the AFL.
The Lions and Swans were relocations/mergers.
The giants and suns are a closer comparison and they are struggling. If it werent for the AFL's interest in expanding into these regions they wouldnt exist.
A new Tasmania club would struggle for enough support given the AFL is national now, so supporters around the state already have a side. If their population was 500k to 1m they'd have a chance. 200k is WAY too small
