Ratings are very important. Cumulative ratings are virtually meaningless
Now, being a complete novice in the ratings conversation, what is the difference?

Lol has spent the last 2 months frothing & foaming ranting & raving about cumulative ratings being meaningless .
If they are so meaningless why have they become an obsession with him ?
Why does it upset him so much that RL gets more viewers?.

If you didn't pick it up they were the ones I was talking about! The AFL and there cult members completely lost the plot. And stop embarrassing yourself by trying to deny it because you know full well they did.

And if Suns/Lions etc are getting just 15-25K from home fans on FTA how many more do think they would be attracting on PTV?????????????????????

I see even Gilligan has given up on the Gold Coast. He's finally had enough. The Tasmanian Suns. Its got a nice ring to it
find me ANY other competitions anywhere else in the entire world which compare cumulative ratings.

I'll show you how the largest, most popular sports in the world never even consider them :\: :\:

Looks like you're the fools who cannot concede
That's (twice) . Are all you cultist that farking dumb ??????????????????

Every code in existence is well aware of how they went in all the different areas (ratings & profit would the list. Just as they would be well aware of what there rivals(I realise this will just go in one ear and out the other so i'll stop writing now and myself the trouble)

I've always said they are meaningless. Why am I repeatedly saying this? Because you guys are repeatedly saying they're the only important comparison. If they are important why are RL people the only one's I've ever seen talk about them?

FFS it has been explained yet you ignore .
Show me anywhere else in the world that has 2 comps competing in the same season .....where both play a similar amount of games
Where both go up against each other on tv roughly in the same time slots .
Both are competing with each other for STV & a few FTA stations for $$$$$
Last time I asked this you posted some utter tripe comparison of 84 games v about 12 in the USA.

We are unique as far as I can tell in this regard . Hence the total ratings mean something here.

That's all the more reason for NBA supporters or the NBA media to bring out cumulative ratings, because it's the only way they can compete with the NFL. But the only comparisons available are averages or ratings for individual games where the NFL obliterates the NBA.

The NBA and US Baseball have similar average ratings, but again nowhere is cumulative ratings ever mentioned.

A comparison doesn't have to be in the same season either, or have similar match numbers. The US media have no issue making comparisons between their sports, despite different schedules.

In fact, other than NRL media, I can't see the use of cumulative ratings for anything at all, whether it's sport or not. This appears to be a Roy Masters creation to give the NRL some sort of falx victory.

You lot and your meaningless ratings 'victory' have been caught out, so now you're desperately trying to make out like our sports are in some sort of unique situation. Good luck with that. You can use cumulative ratings, but dont expect anyone else to acknowledge them.

All your frothing & foaming about what happens overseas has zilch to do with that fact .

You just cannot accept the AFL getting beaten in anything .

RL dont have more viewers, they have more viewing opportunities. They have a smaller audience but more games to watch. Thats all that cumulative figures show, which is why they are irrelevant and why no one else uses them.

If they are essentially the same why dont we hear any other media organisation or sporting body using them? They use averages and the list of best rating programs. They never quote a year's worth of ratings, nor do they ever compare these fanciful figures

Could you be a bigger hypocrite?

As much as you guys blindly bang on about cumulative ratings I will state they are irrelevant. You guys are sticking to your guns relentlessly, just like I am.

The only way either side will relent is if evidence of their value and use elsewhere (or lack of) is provided. In the posts I have provided they are never even raised let alone compared.

IF you want them considered show us some bloody evidence for once

How about piss off
I've shown how AUS has 2 competing codes with similar time slot so ..similar scheduling .
Up against each other all season .
As usual you discount this because you're a fucking brainwashed moron .
Who can't accept that your sport gets beat .
There is nothing similar at all in The USA yet you try to use sports over there as an example .
I asked can you show anywhere in the world a similar situation to Aust . You can't .
You just rant &'rant about what happens over there ..which is nothing like here .

We have a unique setup wher two sports can be compared ...
So you go onto your old fave viewing .
& all the while discounting the positives of your broadcast .

You really really need professional help .

and here you are wrong from the get-go.

The NRL's home and away season is 192 matches for 384 hours of sport over 26 weekends. That's 14.7 hours of sport per week which every fan can watch.

The AFL's season is 198 matches for 594 hours of sport over 23 weekends. That's 25.8 hours of sport per weekend, and fans can only watch about 18 of those hours because games are shown at the same time.

They may have a similar number of games per season but they do not have similar schedules, not even close. If both fans watched the same number of hours per weekend over the season an NRL fan ends up watching 192 games, while an AFL fan only watches 338 hours of AFL (14.7 hours per round), which is only 112 matches.

So how in god's name are these similar??? If we both watch the same amount of TV you are counted as watching 192 games of NRL and I am only counted as watching 112 games of AFL.

Of course you'll add all the other excuses like extra FTA game, (which only applies to our smaller markets), and only 15 teams. But all they do is add even more differences to the codes.

They are not the same, not by a long shot. This is exactly why cumulative ratings are BS. Even slight differences in scheduling will make a large difference over an entire year.

Back to your fallback bullshit position .
It's all you have .ranting about hrs while discounting the positives of your broadcasting .
I'm not wrong
Both codes have games televised at the same time ..nearly every weekend .
fri nite prime time .sat games
Sun arvo games .

I have argued with some cultists on here .
You are by far the most brainwashed .

You can say cumulative ratings are bullshit . That's your fucked up opinion .

They are facts .Rl had more viewers .making it the mast watched sport .
Yet all you do is argue against this .
