A lot of fanciful high hopes have been expressed about womans RL but last night we were served with a strong contender for sporting flop of the year. Axe woman's RL now !, these tossers need to cut their losses, bury the shame and get over your failure. An embarrassing disastrous turnout of only 6824 fans witnessed a play fight totally devoid of any skill. As this slow cumbersome error fest. continued (I refuse to call this fiasco a game) many of the crowd went missing, the long kiosk que providing escape from the pain and suffering
This haphazard curiosity generated a lot of new event goodwill that has now been trashed, fans will snub it next year ( and defect to aflw ) , expect a cliff dive in TV ratings next year.
Aflw tv ratings picked up after a slow start and so the season average was a respectable figure. Womans RL could never sustain a season long interest for tv viewers. its a one game thing.

Don't forget the AFL is the most watched comp in the land.
More the 6,000,000 people watched and attended the AFL than their next closest rival, the NRlilL last year.

both sides repeat the same arguments. Every Sunday I have to explain why some games rate about half a normal game, yet RL fans need it repeated again and again

More teams would have been preferable. However I believe the leading women players involved and & the coaches/developement officers warned against going too big too soon as the player standard and depth wasn't good enough yet.

As it is the games have been of a good standard and the ratings are tracking well. No doubt they will expand in the coming years & will have a product that is a high standard and respected by the sporting public.

What's the standard like? The AFLW is shocking.

Standard is pretty good .
There's been Women's test matches played for ages between Aust & NZ .
So there's plenty of players who have played at high levels & have all the skills .
