Let me know when you want to get back on topic and if you have some decent excuses

I would have thought a question of "when was your last home and away game that rated over 1m" wa on topic in a ratings thread. :hmm:

Of course that's an unfair question given your TH and FR games only involve bottom teams........ :^o :^o

if you look over the rounds
for Saturday and Sunday matches..
day and night on FTA

S.A and W.A Home teams shown on FTA double the count of other teams playing..
that are not from the home state.

which would be normal..

that is why AFL show 2 games at once at various times in the round..

the AFL do not want a National figure of a Suns/Lions Game rating... (as it would be very poor.
so they sub it with a better game Port v Eagles going live on FTA into Home states.
than combine the two together...
I know why they show two games at once

The question is, does this produce a greater net benefit given showing two games concurrently splits the market in half so the averages per game are lower?

The evidence suggests it doesnt. Rounds where home markets are not targeted but games are shown in isolation get a far higher average per game.
ok good at least we on the same page in that matter.

I will give you this one...
some weeks it would disadvantage and some weeks it would advantage..
depending on the games the conditions the teams playing...

I think the AFL are happy with how it plays out..
they may lose some viewers with some match ups one week
but gain the next...

yes it is also true.. it would be good to have a better understanding and comparison

if the NRL had just say an Adelaide and Perth Team to the mix..

They'd need 2 teams in these cities for a fairer comparison. The AFL cant target Perth like the NRL can target Brisbane, because of the number of homeland clubs in each city.

Of course what you say has merit. On some weeks the effects of targeted games would be higher than others. Although on some weeks the NRL target their home markets with their FTA games too

Wookies got Fox AFL ratings down about 10% so far this season. That's close to 3M viewers. After 10 rounds FTA was down over 20%. They have improved somewhat over recent weeks but will still be significantly down overall.

Not having paid too much attention to last year's fixturing, but this year Melbourne gets only 3 FTA games per round, and Perth and Adelaide getting games delayed, or on 7 mate. That alone would account for a drop in ratings

They get what they got last year. So its more a case of people being sick and tired of the same old crap.

Even your excuses are crap, or should I say Crappier than usual!

2 games shown in isolation during the day rated an average of 184k despite featuring the lowly Lions, dogs and demons.

Then 2 games shown concurrently in primetime featuring 2 powerhouse AFL clubs in tigers and bombers rated an average of only 146k. Further proof concurrent games hearts rating averages, not helps them.

Also worth noting the NRL's day game yesterday only got 152k, less than the AFL's 184k average ratings for the afternoon

AFL
Hawthorn v Lions 153k
Dogs v Demons 231k
AVG = 192k

v's

NRL
Souths v Dogs 152k
Manly v Melbourne 234k
Avg = 193k

Enjoy that silver

And since when have the Suns been a powerhouse of the AFL's?
