Or China, or South Africa, or India ... And worst of all, Europe!!!
Our members say they don't care, and they may be telling a rare truth. But one things for shit sure, the afl care and have tried their darnedest to promote and build the game internationally with failure, after failure after failure, after failure....after failure
https://www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post/s ... s-the-bootThe man who helped bring AFL to Wellington says he is "deeply disappointed" the city council has given it the boot.

Re: PACIFIC NATIONS
Amazing news. Some of the best players I have ever seen are of Fijian heritage.
Marika Koroibete & Suliasi Vunivalu.
Man if Melbourne had those two together now, they would have been unstoppable.

Re: PACIFIC NATIONS
Hehe that article is comical. I really don't see AFL suiting the Kiwi culture. Is simple as that.King-Eliagh wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2018 1:14 pmlest we forget the afls efforts in New Zealand tho?

Re: PACIFIC NATIONS
what has got me interested today>
New ARLC chairman Peter Beattie (why I'm not a Labour Fan)
Peter Beattie urges NRL competition to look for new teams
The man touted as the next chairman of the ARL commission Peter Beattie is determined to expand the NRL beyond the current 16 teams.
Expansion has to be on the table. The game can’t be complacent. We have to grow. If we stagnate we die. And that is why I want to see it back on the table. It’s time.
We need to be strategic about it and think long term.
There is so much other entertainment and other sports people are interested in. We can’t sit on our bums. The quality of the game is great but we’ve got to ensure it has a future.
That’s why expansion is so important.
can’t wait to see teams like Perth, Fiji, New Zealand, PNG, Country NSW and other cities in action, week after week in State Cup matches. Even Ipswich or Redcliffe. We’ve got to give them all a signal that we’re looking at expansion.

Re: PACIFIC NATIONS
Yeah, Beattie is talking the talk so far. He is a politician though so he's gonna have to get these things done before he wins me over. I see he's bought a house in Balmain & is moving to Sydney - that at least indicates he's taking it seriously. He's our next great hope to maximise the potential the game has got.

Re: PACIFIC NATIONS
The way I see it. If a Canadian can set up a Wolfpack team in Toronto where Rugby League is hardly known about.
Surely it has to be easier to expand the game here than North America.
Time will tell.

Re: PACIFIC NATIONS
it all comes down to money. there isnt enough of it in the islands to sustain a fully professional team at NRL or even Super rugby level. It will however be cheaper to go the NRL route because of all the travel costs in super rugby

Re: PACIFIC NATIONS
This is so funny you guys are having wet dreams over this and still bagging the AFL, talk about insecurities. Even funnier when you consider RU is even more popular in Fiji and Tonga as it is in NZ and totally dont even give the slightest thought what RU will do to combat it.
