I never brought it up in this thread but no doubt the AFL fans knew he had shaved his head and waxed his body before a hair sample drug test which the AFL 'passed'

that isnt the argument though. This thread is about which other sport would have helped or hindered a Ben Cousins type problem. Illicit drug culture is strong in every sport, and every walk of life. At least the AFL dont turn a blind eye like most WADA sports. Nor do they leave testing up to the clubs like the NRL, which is a pretend policy at best.AFLcrap1 wrote: Sun Jan 14, 2018 9:56 amOh dear .
Just to explain it once again .
Drugs ...racism ...bad crowd behaviour
Bad player behaviour ....are in all sports ..no one is claiming any different .
It's how the Governing bodies DEAL with the problems is the issue .
& when the Governing body of one sport here in AUST continually get on their soapbox & preach how they are the leaders in fighting these problems ...they set themselves up for a fall . Especially when they seem to be more interested in lip service ..& protecting the Brand than actually addressing the problem .
you, did. By saying every sport has issues with illicit drugs. The rest of your answer had nothing to do with the threadAFLcrap1 wrote: Sun Jan 14, 2018 10:37 amI answered your question .

Any other sport would never have put up with a ben Cousins type for this long - for anywhere near this long. The AFL with there sweep, sweep - look the other way, 3 strikes policy have already made themselves a laughing stock in this area. There no telling what else he's gotten away with over the yearsNlolRL wrote: Sun Jan 14, 2018 10:25 amthat isnt the argument though. So the answer to the OP is pretty much every sport
you literally have no idea what you are talking about. Most world sports follow the WADA code where illicit drug use is only banned if you test positive on game day. Other than that you can use til your heart's content. The AFL was one of the first sports to introduce an illicit drugs policy in addition to the WADA code. They made it a 3 strike policy based on expert advice and the fact the testing was in players off season, another first. The NRL followed with a 'look at me' 2 strike policy yet allowed clubs to do their own testingpussycat wrote: Mon Jan 15, 2018 2:35 pmAny other sport would never have put up with a ben Cousins type for this long - for anywhere near this long.
