CBS: Is there a new player in the market.?
With CBS taking over C10 what does this mean for the current players. Will even Fox have competition?
Rugby League, the dominant force in Australian sport!

Interesting times ahead for Australian Television>>
55% of primetime scheduling has to be Australian
so CBS could look strongly into Our Sports..
at this point in time I know very little..
so will see how this plays out.

Re: CBS: Is there a new player in the market.?
CBS have a lot of money. They provide a lot a content to 10 as it is. Their channel in U.K. Is struggling. I think they will now have the money to throw at cricket. If they want to go big and go after a footy code they will go after AFL as the national footprint is larger and it's the big fish of Australian sport. Not wanting to get into code war stuff just stating that they'll go after the biggest sport. They want care for regional ratings and will look at what the buyers of advertising look at and that's 5 city metro. That's were the bucks are.

Lol
Of course they would only be interested in fumbles
They wouldn't be interested in a sport with 4 out of the top 5 programs for the year .
Or a sport that has more viewers than any other .

I think they'll go for 5 city metro ratings across the season. They may bid for soo though if sold separately agree. Soo is the biggest footy fish.

Freddy the big bucks in advertising
come out of Sydney and Melbourne>> (Sydney being about 20% More)
It is why the NRL can get so close to the AFL in regards to the TV DEAL>>
with way way way less advertising opportunities in NRL compared to AFL.

Australian sporting sponsorship
AFL excess of $50m
A league $30 million plus
ARU $27 million
NRLOL $25 million
Leagueiscrap
and she still changes your nappies as well!

wouldn't the Networks offer less money as there is less opportunity now...?
yes LIC the answer is YES>>
Advertising in AFL compared to the NRL is Massively different..
NRL 1.9billion (excluding N.Z) (5 years)
AFL 2.55Billion (6 years)
now if you were a network would you pay abit more to lock in something abit longer ?
AFL 18 teams
NRL 16 teams
More adverts in 1 half of AFL FOOTBALL compared too a whole game of NRL Football..
LIC give me your honest opinion
if NRL had 2 extra teams and had a 6 year agreement like the AFL
this = ??

the AFL has games over lapping & played on early afternoons! the majority of NRLOL games are played in isolation and for exclusivity look up the advertising dollar for early after noon vs prome time
your broadcast deal contains the international component the national stuff & a NZ team.
a well crafted state vs state gimmick that accounts for 10 to 20% of the total broadcast deal

if the AFL ran a fixture and allowed the tv networks to control it the AFL would be by far further ahead

Re: CBS: Is there a new player in the market.?
Yet fumble ball its the second most watched sport on Australian TV. And as pointed out by Leeroy The East coast dominates when it comes to advertising, In addition to having 3 Origin matches that demand 150k for a 30 second add. It looks likely the NRL will have new TV partners for the next TV contract unless c9 can dig deeper. Not to mention that CBS could on sell its product internationally , not just South of the Murray.Fred wrote: Tue Aug 29, 2017 12:23 pmI think they'll go for 5 city metro ratings across the season. However CBS may be looking for a new comedy channel. Side splitting laughs as Gilligan and his crew members take the SS Minnow on another voyage . Fumbling and bumbling there way around the word in search of another game in which you get points for missing.

Rugby League, the dominant force in Australian sport!

it is not 2018 yet! as well as do you really think the network c9 and fox after signing a billion dollar contract will allow NRLOL total control of the fixture?leeroy*NRL* wrote: Tue Aug 29, 2017 2:11 pmWOWSERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!leagueiscrap wrote: Tue Aug 29, 2017 2:00 pmthe networks have full control of the schedule in the NRLOL as oppose to the AFL it does what it wants with theirsleeroy*NRL* wrote: Tue Aug 29, 2017 1:49 pm
