Your club comp is all you have. I'm not saying that's a bad thing but it only makes up about 80% of our season. If Rugby League never had, the more popular rep football and had our full focus on club football the way you do. Then the way we done things would change, and so would fans attitude. If the best they had to focus on was Parramatta v Melbourne. We might even have to consider introducing a wildcard to get some interest back into the tail end of our season.

consider is the operative word. The AFL is constantly looking for ways to improve - not all of them will work - and doesnt sit around its arse just talking about it. Its not something the AFL needs - crowds and ratings are just fine, but the perception that theres some dead fixtures in the back end tends to make the back half of the season less exciting than it could be if they introduced such a wild card.

In the mean time, NRL crowds are in the toilet - especially in Sydney where long established teams are pulling less than the Storm do - and the NRL has no clue what its going to do about it. NRL ratings are down on FTA and Fox.

With a full round this week our matches will rate a swell as ever. Certainly not an indication that nobody gives a shit. And With the 7's, Tests, Origin, all stars, World cup/4 nation. The club scene would have to be 80% or pretty darn close.

and all you tossball fans do is talk up because its the only thing that really competes with the AFLs competition.

AFL fans and players may like the idea of SOO, but when push comes to shove and your best players risk injury in a fairly meaningless match, most reconsider. There's a reason SOO fizzled out in Aussie rules, and it wont come back. It just doesnt have the support the club games do.

He has just as much chance of getting injured in that weeks club round.

Possibly, but at least that is whilst playing for his club. Why take unnecessay risks. Then there's things like fatigue on the players etc that could carry over for weeks.

At present it seems soo is valued more than come by footy but which pays there wages.
