Just looked on ticketek for ticket prices for tonights Sydney AFL derby at SCG. Best available seats/price is going at 60-70 dollars per adult. Swans games aren't cheap, yet they still manage to pack a stadium being at bottom of ladder or top of ladder, Huge demand.

Well the giants are a very new SECOND expansion team in Sydney, so of course they will take time to get support. Most people who follow AFL in Sydney will have already joined allegiances with the Swans. Imagine if you introduced a brand new team into Brisbane. Who would follow it given the Broncos have the following of the vast majority.

As for AFL being the 4th sport in NSW, the Swans have the highest membership numbers and largest crowd average of every sporting club in Sydney. Meanwhile the Storm have lower membership numbers and crowd averages than every AFL team and the Victory in Melbourne

A second Rugby League team in Brisbane would get success alot quicker than the Giants. And would not need to play in two cities in order to survive.
