Listen, if the AFL want to build a 10000 capacity stadium or refurbish one they will. If the government want to chip in all good for AFL and possibly the community (I suspect Logan area would host it) as the selling point is likely to be infrastructure the community can use ... maybe an indoor stadium and other multi use facilities. So a win win. Maybe the nrl could get in first with some innovative thinking like this however up until recently has not been there way. From the AFL perspective this is just there way of spreading AFL across south east Queensland and planning for the future. If the AFL really want it they will just do it on there own, but if they can sell it to a government as lots of pay off for the community ... well why not.

Where is the logic in paying for a stadium that AFL can afford anyway? It is AFLs way of rebuilding the failing lions brand and getting someone else to pay for it.

So it's perfectly acceptable for the qld government to hand out even more money for he wealthy news corp owned broncos for a training venue and several hundreds of million for a stadium in Townsville to a team on average can only half fill their current stadium

Rectangular venues are much more financially viable in Qld as it is the field shape the top 3 football codes use there. Are used by Soccer, Union and League. This new stadium will likely be used only by AFL.
