Reading the bulletin this morning with my coffee by the pool after doing a lazy 5 k run I see there was some standoff between grant and nrl club presidents re funding with the 30 percent above cap funding being pulled. Apparently a few issues but one mentioned was the need to fund grassroots more as they had to address falling partipation rates.

Smart move by the nrl in buying it partnering with touch as does boost numbers. Do you know what participation numbers are without touch? If any one knows AFL numbers without any slick and just club reg that would be good too.

Also Grant seems to want to address declining partipation numbers which would suggest concern at his level of administration.

Well AFL is the number 4 sport behind European imports in Union, Football & League in NSW and Qld. And you could say AFL has nothing to offer fans outside Australia with zero overseas teams if you want to go off topic.

But when it comes to real football. I am first to admit as a Rugby League fan that Soccer is miles ahead of everyone on the world stage.
It is a sport which can rezonate with all cultures.
Most top footballers like Christiano Renaldo would probably not even know what AFL is lol..

I think once the A League expands and gets better coverage on free to air. It could surprise a lot of people.

A lot of rectangular stadiums are being upgraded in NSW too. Homebush, Parramatta and Sydney Football stadium are all going to be world class. Which will be a win for RL too.
