Even King agreed with the article, so you other bogans need to pull your freaking heads in!
oh really

Storm V Tigers ratings in Melbourne 86K
Swans V Carlton ratings in Sydney 85K ( & thats way above the norm for the swans too ... they rarely crack 50K  )

its worse when the swans aren't playing its down right embarrasing
just 21K watched the live telecast on 7mate of the Essendon V Hawks game :>::

your rights deal has gotten on fine without Sydney .. ours doesn't need Melbourne either to get the big $$ ( even though we're doing quite ok down there anyway )

King agreed with elements of the article .. as I did too
but other parts of it were awfully inaccurate

we'll get a whopping increase ( we'll get a Billion plus ) to fund our expansion & consolidate our position in NSW & QLD as the only sport in town

You keep repeating this line about AFL ratings dropping by 30% over the last 5 years whilst the NRL rose by 15%. I'm yet to see any proof of this. Just because you keep saying it, doesn't make it true.
the ratings for the last 4 years are on this site you muppet

Storm winning and on top of the NRL ladder whilst the Swans were getting belted by Carlton. And yet you only win by 1,000. Nice

Meanwhle last night, a good result and massive improvement in Sydney.

Well for a start, you said the last five years. This site only shows the last four. Secondly I do not see this pattern you're alluding to. If anything, I see the AFL continues to dominate the NRL week to week in the nationwide audience stakes.

"Channnel Ten's coverage on Saturday night of the St Kilda-Swans game, which at 7.30pm was delayed by just 20 minutes, easily won its timeslot in Melbourne but finished a distant fourth in Sydney. Between 8.45pm and 9pm The Iron Chef rated better than the match, during which commentators Robert Walls and Tim Lane criticised Sydney's style of play and tactics....." SMH

So what? Does it matter if the swan were in there 20th or 30th season. It's pathetic - no its beyond pathetic.

And it just didn't happen the once.

A quarter of an hour loss? Well big whoopee do! It's the hour that counts, not a quarter hour! And get up to date while you're about it like Beau said.

This ones from 2005.

"AFL spent 300k of their hard earned promoting last Saturday night's game at Telstra Stadium and what happens ? Every rival free-to-air station beats it yet again. According to 2UE's John Stanley the AFL struggled to get out of the 90,000's for a good portion of the telecast and was well beaten throughout the entire game by 9 (Chicken Run ), 7, and the ABC. And for a 40 minute period was again beaten by SBS and that wonderful repeat, overdubbed show.. The Iron Chef................"

Heres one in 2009. If your wondering were it came from it was the Swans home site

"I just checked out the Sydney ratings for last night's Swans v Hawthorn game. In Sydney only 97,000 people bothered to tune in. Even Iron Chef pulled in a bigger audience of 125,000. The game came last in the ratings for its timeslot in Sydney." ~

Each year, week to week, the AFL absolutely dominates the NRL in the national tv ratings. Check the totals for each round yourself over the last 4 years.
