Well I know that is bullshit because Matt Shirvington pb is 10.03 and Fraser Gehrig real pb was said to be a shade under 11 over a 100.
Once again your an idiot!

Lol the irony in that statement pussycat!!

How's those nrlol players going in the Olympics, seeing that they apparently breaking run Olympic times

mathew leckie (an australian) was recorded as the fastest player in the german bundesliga at 35.2kph last season. i think arjen robben still holds the record for internationals from the 2014 world cup when he ran 37kph top speed against spain :salute:

Because your not being objective - in order to see who is fastest you'd have to test all the footballers of both codes and average it out EVERY year. Taking on off examples does not make a particular sport endowed with faster players rather the individual is faster than others! That's why he's an idiot for selectively using stats to back up a flawed argument!

AFL players are not built like sprinters. Sprinting a 100 metres is just not something which is ever done in AFL.

Oh seriously you are a fool the ball in AFL can move from the backline to the forward line in under 20 seconds it's called coast to coast in our game with players starting the movement being found near the ball at the end - the field is 150 meters long which means they would have to be running just as fast as ANY RL player given your field is only 100 meters long. You really have no idea about what your talking about!

There is never sprinting in AFL. All just jogging most of the time.

You never even get the oportunity to sprint 90 metres in AFL.

You look at some of the Fijians playing for Melbourne Storm.

SULIASI VUNIVALU & MARIKA KOROIBETE. There is no AFL player that would match the explosive speed and toughness of these guys.

No other code ever even wants to steal AFL players either. Because people know how poorly skilled AFL is.

No sprinting in AFL? I debated whether to comment as you obviously no little of AFL other than maybe glimpses on tv and are obviously incapable of knowing when not to comment. ..... no i want comment after giving it some thought.

Its pretty common now with zone defenses due to all players being in the defensive 50m. Buddys goal when he outran Hooker a few years ago is another example

AFL crap it is not uncommon ...you have the ball on the backline and handball it off.... you are then running to possibly recieve the ball again maybe 30 40 or 50 metres away yoi may get the ball and keep running with it and kick and follow up that kick etc. Also lose ball on the wing and you have to go get it... the sprint is on between you and an opponent ... maybe be 40 metres then you get it and kick it forward then have to follow up your kick. There is a helm of a lot of sprinting that can occur... a lot without possibly getting a touch as you are trying to lose a man and get in position. You would not capture this on tv though as much as it is off the ball stuff a lot of the time. Where you see a player have the ball in the back line and is receiving the ball in the forward line they would be going flat out.

Quite an amusing thread. I particularly liked swines unobjective point on what is and what is not objective :(/ "you'd have to measure everyone's sprint times and then average them to see who is the fastest"

Sorry Swines but that's not gunna find out which code has the most explosive and speedy athlete sprinters. You must measure the fastest in each code to measure that and we all know the RL players blow the AFL trotters away in speed, power, explosiveness, agility, toughness, and strength.

Its quite obvious given the nature of the games. Having played both codes I know you gotta sprint in marngrook, sometimes for fair distances... but its a long game and a big field so training emphasis must be placed more on endurance and trotting it out rather than exciting explosive blitzing speed drills.

Quite obvious. But the fumblers in here, well apart from me, don't have a clue.

Also as mentioned with the flooding nowadays with everyone around the ball (if you are going to bag AFL please go so about that) when there is a break the team with the ball have to run sprint back to provide options. This can see a player sprinting easily 100 metres.

Of course this is not so prevelent in local comps of aussie rules at lower levels were the game is played more to position. Although an onballer would sprint a lot on top of a lot of runninh per se. I for one would like a return to this type of football.
