I actually do enjoy the football and casually follow the A league being a Wanderers fan.
The only thing that is letting the A league down is it is not having the best players in the world competing.
Is probably at League 1 standard in England. But I do think it is good Football is present in Australia.

As for the A league getting 200 million pound. Which is Australian 400 million plus. Γ‘o chance man.

Something AFL will never have. Big crowds or a professional presence in another country.

But they have already had crowds in excess of 20,000 overseas to exhibition matches??? And it is being played overseas with more countries playing every year - why is it inconceivable that one day semi-professional leagues will form - after all AFL wasn't even played OS 25 years ago now it's in US, Canada, UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Fiji, Somoa, Tonga, Sth AF, India, China, Japan etc etc. Again what does it matter if it doesn't - it sounds like your trying to convince yourself of something!

Oh please give me a break, that had a lot more to do with who was playing and where they were playing. If it was Auckland from the start and had teams from the top of the ladder it would have been different.

It would be like playing RL in Adelaide with Penrith and Nth Qld 1st gets some and then drops off - venue and teams have a lot to do with it.

I never get tired of proving you wrong Swanny. It is so easy to do lol.. Look at the crowd stats of AFL exhibition matches in Wellington.

They halved in 3 years. Prove me wrong.
As for another country going semi professional with AFL. Yeah a bit like the AFL international cup or that basketcase video of AFL being played in the States yeah.. What a halfwit.

1st year was against the Swans who were top 4 that year.
2nd year was Lions who were bottom 8
Next year was Carlton who were bottom 4. St.Kilda was in bottom 8 all 3 years.

If they fixture the Saints (who won 11 this year and are on the rise again) with good opposition and play it in Auckland 10k is a good crowd IMO

the funny thing is that for the games the AFL has played over in NZ , the crowd average is similar to that of the NZ NRL team. a fact the tin foil had brigade always like to leave out. pretty funny when you consider NZ is a massive rugby country well union, & league just rides off that popularity
Australian sporting sponsorship
AFL excess of $50m
A league $30 million plus
ARU $27 million
NRLOL $25 million

While AFL fans seem to think Rugby League is no big deal in Northern UK.
Last years grand final between Leeds Rhinos vs Wigan Warriors more than disproves that theory.

I am sure 2016 will be another huge final.

Is great how Rugby League has two quality grand finals to watch. :thumbleft:
