From the NRLOL back to the basement

Post by leagueiscrap »

FROM playing in front of 30,000 :^o :^o fans, signing autographs and being on national television to being jobless and moving back to your mum’s house in the space of a fortnight.

Welcome to the other side of the game.

Let’s forget about the multi-million dollar contracts and endorsement deals.

That’s the part of the NRL which is romanticised but there’s a sad side.

This is a part of rugby league rarely publicised but it’s just as important as the flashy plays and the huge deals.

The harsh reality of potentially having to finish one’s career before they even get the chance to reach their prime is one which claims a handful of players every year.

For off-contract Manly duo Josh Starling and Blake Leary, it’s starring them in the face.

“That’s rugby league. That’s the unglamorous side of it. You never know where you’re going to go,” Starling told foxsports.com.au.

I think it's worse in the NFL, you can have a contract but you only get paid if you play regardless of the work put in.

You've been very very busy today obsessively chasing up anything remotely negative to RL loonie. Does your psychiatrist know what you're up to today loloololololol???? Take a day off the hating loonie, smell the roses - no RL thugs are gonna chase ya down and bash ya lolololololol. Although a little tap probably wouldn't hurt lolololololol. Might re calibrate the grey matter lololololol

You just repeat the same shit over & over in every thread . News ltd lies news ltd lies

That rant had nothing yo do with my reply to your post about what AFL do for players .
I asked you to research what the NRL do

Your post was trying to point out how great the AFL was in looking after players .
Why did you go on a rant & ignore my reply

Seeing as you are talking up the AFL & trying to make out that the NRL players have nothing similar it's time to show you up as clueless once again .
I even gave you a chance to try to educate yourself .
As usual you just deflected with a rant
News ltd lies
News ltd lies .
Lol

Retired NRL players who themselves have a trade qualification have been engaged and trained as mentors across the fifteen Australian clubs. They use their own successful experiences of achieving their trade to help younger players follow in their footsteps.

No Work, No Study, No Play
The NRL has been so serious about the importance of a balanced approach to sport, study and work **** their players that they instituted this policy for the National Youth Competition back in 2008.

It works by mandating that all players in the Under 20s program must work and/or study for at least 24 hours per week to be eligible to play. This has made sure our players are not left behind by their peers, either on the field, in the classroom or at work. To allow this to happen clubs are not allowed to schedule compulsory training between the hours of 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

It also helps instil an understanding that work and perseverance bring their own reward by helping to build a person's character.
