Walker injured his right hand in the incident and he will not play for a month.
The Sea Eagles released a statement saying his partner drove with him to St Vincent's Hospital for X-rays and treatment.
" Walker and his partner met with Sea Eagles officials early this morning. They admitted Walker struck out with frustration and stupidity when he had trouble opening the wooden front door to his apartment," the statement said.
Walker had been out with friends until 10pm on Saturday as Manly had the bye.
The Sea Eagles have advised the NRL integrity unit about the incident.
Walker was rushed to hospital last year after he and former Rabbitohs teammate Aaron Gray overdosed on prescription drugs.
He recovered, despite being "touch and go" in the hours immediately after the admission to hospital.
He was released from the Rabbitohs at the end of the season to join the Sea Eagles, where he earned a spot in Laurie Daley's NSW team for game one and two of State of Origin.
He was dropped for game three after two underwhelming performances in Sydney and Brisbane
