Looks like Essendon has had a huge fall in average crowds. With the smallest crowds in 25 years and over 25,000 below their average.

Lol, stone cold last, 12 players banned for the year, a team filled with temporary players who are filling in for 12 months. Yet they atill have over 50k members and average far more crowds than every nrl club

Are these 'real' members or the funny members you guys like to make up?

Revenue from their memberships can be seen in their annual report. Essendon earns near 60m a year, more than any nrl club by some margin

80k to anzac day, 60k to game v tigers. Is that acceptable?post_hoc wrote:why aren't they going to watch them then?
Their crowds have been sliding as the season goes on due to repeated thrashings. No surprise people arent goint to watch a team made up from temporary fill ins get thrashed. Having said that they still average over 45k

These "members" are the ones that pay $50 for a showbag and never attend a game?
Do the kids that participate in school holiday camps also get counted? As that is on the Essendon membership page.
Report in the Hearld Sun a few years ago at Adelaide teams double counting members, if they bought a 3 game pass then decided to buy another 3 game pass they got counted twice LOL
Talk about dodgy accounting

If you think essendon dont have huge membership numbers you're kidding yourself. However, why would members go watch a temporary team lose by miles?post_hoc wrote:These "members" are the ones that pay $50 for a showbag and never attend a game?

Now if you read my post you would see that I wasn't talking about sponsorship, so not sure why you brought that in, the discussion was how many of the 60,000 'members' were people that bought 3 game passes, how many of them bought $50 showbag style, how many bought legitimate season tickets and how many of them simply signed their kid up for the school holiday clinics.leagueiscrap wrote:there is a thread i did comparing Essendons financials to the parramatte eelspost_hoc wrote:These "members" are the ones that pay $50 for a showbag and never attend a game?

i have also posted their membership revenue! with a link that provides all of the AFL clubs financials!post_hoc wrote:Now if you read my post you would see that I wasn't talking about sponsorship, so not sure why you brought that in, the discussion was how many of the 60,000 'members' were people that bought 3 game passes, how many of them bought $50 showbag style, how many bought legitimate season tickets and how many of them simply signed their kid up for the school holiday clinics.leagueiscrap wrote:there is a thread i did comparing Essendons financials to the parramatte eelspost_hoc wrote:These "members" are the ones that pay $50 for a showbag and never attend a game?

that 10 odd million they that they earn is higher that what nearly all the NRLOL clubs earn through football related revenue outside of the 9 odd million through the distribution!
http://afltables.com/AFL/crowds/essendon.html
http://www.footywire.com/AFL/footy/attendances
thats their crowd attendance history, up near the million mark most years for the season, not bad for a club that hasnt won a final since 2001 & the current home ground capacity, adding in seasoned ticket holders, & Etihad medallions clubs ect

so get fucked with your claims of bodgy numbers idea! have a look at the numbers! its up there with the largest AFL clubs & no other club in Australia out side of the AFL even comes close!
not so much the soccer fans but the bumsniffing fans just rant and race how popular they think their club is but never to bother look at & comparing real time figures
