I dont think thats whats being said. It's more an explanation for the growth of the world game which in all honesty makes a lot of senseAFLcrap1 wrote:Don't know

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't saying League is not big in Western Sydney, what I was saying it is not Leagues Heartland. No offence intended, but technically you can't have more than 1 heartland, it would be a misnomer. I would argue that Brisbane or Eastern Suburb/South East Suburbs of Sydney is Rugby League heartland, traditionally strong areas, lots of juniors etc etc.
That is all I meant

Western Sydney isn't Rugby League Heartland. GWS started in 'Blacktown' (didn't last long after coning the council out of millions) Blacktown doesn't have a Rugby League team, they then moved to Homebush coning the government out of more money (and Canberra).
The simple fact is GWS doesn't really have a regional identity they aren't really called Greater Western Sydney Giants anymore either they are simply GWS. So how you say they are in the heartland is beyond me.

Re: AFL newcomers GWS taking giant steps in Western Sydney’s sporting heartland
Sydney has and always will be RL heartland just as Melb for Rules, soccer isn't anywhere near both in either, soccer fans are delusional for even thinking so simply because of the juniors playing, as said this is more or less replicated across the country nay the WORLD yet the places where it is not #1, it is actually nowhere near the top sport at all, STRANGE THAT HUH.
Bris has never ever been RL heartland like Sydney, it's a ch9 propaganda setup through Gus and co for yrs to put shit on Sydney by using Brisbanes 1 team to try and wean Sydney fans off of the idiot box, they do this by continually running them down. It isn't working and is actually making things worse.
Maybe some good promotion once in a while for the club promotion in Sydney NSW would be good FOR A START instead of spending all the money they have it seems selling SOO since December last year.
I have seen SOO ads non stop since the beginning of the year, I see a thurs/fri/sun game advertised maybe once a week usually leading up to said game a day or two before in a 15 sec burst.
West Sydney is Rugby League, for every wanderers fan you hear above everyone else saying look at me look at me, the NRL has another 3 clubs with more support all in that same area. No need to Bullshit about it, any club in the west struggles, another steps up, always been the way. Strangely though, all the Wests teams never ever seem to fire at once, now that would be something for you soccer wankers to see, all the Wests Rugby League clubs firing on all cylinders and fighting for titles, this soccer crap would be blown away after 1 round.
Until then you'll have to just deal with teams getting done for cheating, drugs, criminals running joints and so, and that's just my club, you have Wests Tigpies left to figure out yet, could get as ugly as the Parra situation but with less blood letting going on.
Make hay while the sun shines they say, well soccer AFL union, this is your chance to bust the west with the wests teams busting themselves, GOOD LUCK

Re: AFL newcomers GWS taking giant steps in Western Sydney’s sporting heartland
So soccer isn't played in Africa, Europe, Middle East, Asia and South America??? Seriously in many of the countries in those areas even RU (which IMO is the 2nd largest represented code) ISNT played in those countries (to any reasonable degree! To argue that most of the immigrants have been raised on a strict diet of only soccer is really fanciful! Lastly once again you accused me of being racist which race are I vilifying and in what way??post_hoc wrote:But is't not true LOLSwans4ever wrote:What it's racist to say that there is 3 mil immigrants in Western Sydney who grew up where there is no choice but soccer??? Indians would probably follow Brisban Heat before the Broncos. Rugby League will never be their sport as they don't like contact sports.
I can tell you there would be alot of Arab migrants that follow the Canterbury Bulldogs though. 44% of it's members are from non English speaking backgrounds.
There would not be any club in the AFL that would have a more multicultural crowd than them.
