A brawl during a junior rugby league match between Wyong and Lakes United at Morry Breen Oval on the Central Coast in March. The Wyong player attacks the referee and then his own captain.
THE Wyong junior player who bashed a referee and attacked his own captain has failed to show up for a Country Rugby League judiciary hearing into the violent incident at Kanwal.
CRL regional area manager Keith Onslow said the 16-year-old boy would remain suspended from “all facets of the game” until a future hearing.
“He received plenty of notice for this hearing at Newcastle, but was a no-show,” Onslow said.
“We have yet to schedule the next hearing for this matter, but he still faces a life ban.”

Wyong football manager Matt Lavin said the club had deregistered the player following the horrifying incident at Morry Breen Oval on March 13.“The club has banned him and it’s now in the CRL’s hands in terms of what broader action they decide to take,” Lavin said.
The youth was dealt with under the Young Offenders Act and police say he received an official warning in relation to the incident, The player’s brain snap started in the 55th minute of the trial game when he allegedly struck 21-year-old referee Shaun Greentree in the nose and mouth moments after being sent off the field.

“I couldn’t believe it happened,” Mr Greentree, who sustained a fat lip and cut to his nose in the vicious assault, said.
“It didn’t really sink in that I’d been punched until he started attacking his own captain on the ground. I then realised how serious the situation was … and that my safety was under threat.
“You never expect a player to touch you, let alone punch you twice. He had a third swing at me, but that missed. And I actually thought he was coming back for another dig at me, but that’s when he started attacking his own captain.
“I mentally blanked out as soon as I was punched.”
The rugby league brawl at Morry Breen Oval in March sent shock waves through the sport.
Both Onslow and Lavin said player numbers were still strong for the Central Coast junior rugby league season, which kicked off late last month.
What is wrong with these people - bashes the referee then his captain - yet RL want to bring back the biff!!!!

Junior football match abandoned after a player allegedly attacks an umpire and breaks his nose
By Christopher Gillett Herald Sun August 06, 2012 12:23PM
A junior football match was abandoned over the weekend after a player allegedly attacked an umpire and broke his nose.
The alleged incident occurred on Sunday in the under-16s game between Mt Eliza and Chelsea at Madsen Reserve in Mount Eliza.
It started after a visiting player from Chelsea was penalised by the umpire for verbal abuse.
As the 20-year-old umpire reached down to pull out a red card, the player allegedly kneed him in the face, then attacked him.
Frankston and District Junior Football League president Stuart Mason confirmed the game had to be abandoned.
"It's all being investigated at the moment, so there is little I can say," Mr Mason said.
"We've never had an incident like this.

A JUNIOR football game has been called off because of violence towards an umpire.
The Tasmania Junior Football League under-16s football game was called off just before three-quarter time because of inappropriate contact made by a player towards an umpire.
The game between Glenorchy and Sandy Bay at Queenborough Oval in Sandy Bay was abandoned yesterday afternoon.
It is understood a Glenorchy player punched a Sandy Bay player before contact was made with a field umpire.
A spectator who contacted the Mercury said a Glenorchy player knocked the field umpire to the ground after an altercation between two players.
Tasmanian Football Umpires Association’s John Batchler said there had been a report made by the umpire in charge of the game but he said he could not reveal details of the report until after the tribunal findings.
Mr Batchler confirmed players and clubs had been notified that they were required to appear before the tribunal.
“Just like the AFL we have a no-tolerance policy,’’ he said.
Southern Tasmanian Junior Football League executive officer Tony Gibson confirmed an incident had occurred and was reported by the umpires, and the incident would go through the independent tribunal process.
The tribunal meets on Wednesday night.
“A decision will be made based on the evidence presented at the tribunal,” Mr Gibson said.
The tribunal has the power to suspend players and fine clubs based on the evidence presented by the umpires and players.
Mr Batchler said there was no excuse for violence during a game of football.
“It’s a blight on the game, it’s no good for the game and it’s no good for umpires.”
In 2014, a 15-year-old Lauderdale player was suspended for 12 weeks after he pleaded guilty to making contact with an umpire during an under-16 match at Kermandie.
The field umpire, aged 16, was also allegedly abused by a parent.
