I'm sure I've seen old figures somewhere.
Surely there's a type of statistic that grabs that information, not necssesary from registration within clubs

Why would you care, as been pointed out before in many many many ways, more indigenous people like Rugby League more than AFL, it's just the way it is.
More live in RL areas, more participate as was shown from the sbs article last week. More have played the game at the top level than any other sport in this nation, rl was the first code to have an indigenous person allowed by the government to leave Australia and make a living over in England playing sport in the late 20's early 30's. Had Indigenous players in the game from the first kick off back in 1908. Had the first Indigenous Captain of any National team, had the first Indigenous Captain of a first grade club side in the professional ranks. Have an All stars game that has every position filled with a quality representative Indigenous player with one more player at least for each position, haven't seen any other sport out here manage that, not one.

Only if australia consists of NSW and QLD (which as far as think it must). Last I looked AFL was preferred sport of Koori's in Vic, WA, SA, NT and Tas - typical Sydney centric post there my anger challenged friend!ParraEelsNRL wrote:Why would you care, as been pointed out before in many many many ways, more indigenous people like Rugby League more than AFL, it's just the way it is.

Umm isn't the biggest indigenous communities in wa and nt? All those small rural town play AFL and I'm not getting that from media saying that AFL spends quite a bit money to send people out to those areas for marketing and getting the young kids into playing sport, which is probably true. But I've traveled through alot of these areas on road trips and I saw heaps of grounds with AFL postsParraEelsNRL wrote:Why would you care, as been pointed out before in many many many ways, more indigenous people like Rugby League more than AFL, it's just the way it is.

Edit to my two post above:
Apologies to our Torres strait islander friends who are of course indigenous also, I forgot.
If you then take that into consideration also then probably more play rugby league as the biggest Torres Stait communities are throughout qld.
I was only meaning aboriginal which I should of stated in the beginning as their biggest communities are in wa and nt

I don't know whether Torres straight play RL or AFL or any sport - but don't know if it would contribute that significantly when SA, WA and NT have very large indigenous populations.docker24 wrote:Edit to my two post above:

Been done, you just so happen to have conveniently forgotten the latest sbs article that you were discussing last week
Maybe you should go see the Doc, I think you may have early signs of Alzheimer's.
