The AFL games that rate well are primarily Friday night. The majority of the NRL Fri night wer'nt counted to appease Wookie and all you other But But'ers . Face it 7 of the top 10 ,we kicked your arse in the ratings. Its not hard to figure out., more viewers = greater popularity.

it goes to show that ratings dont automatically show a sport's popularity. Most people would think athletics is kinda meh. But Cathy Freeman's 400m final in Sydney had an absolutely massive audience. The attraction was the event itself, the world stage, the patriotism, not the popularity of woman's athletics.

SOO is a standout event which has a unique tribal appeal to many a NSW and Qld patriot who usually dont care that much for RL. It's bragging rights. The ratings certainly dont indicate RL's popularity overall, otherwise you wouldnt have poor ratings like last night. In fact if you take out SOO from your top 10 the AFL had 4 of the top 7 programs last year, and that's despite the game being longer and shown later.

The Morgan polls have consistently shown that the AFL is watched by more Australians than NRL. Hardly surprising given the huge lead the AFL has in every other key indicator.

im pretty sure ive counted all ratings since 2013 fuckwit.
You didn't include the NRL's Fri Night Live matches amogst your highest rating matches. limiting us to about 20 matches in suitable time slots. But like I said we still managed to kick the AFL's arse. And yes, for the 3rd year in a row.

Granted the NRL GF outrated the AFL GF, but the NRL GF was (from reports) an absolute nail biter, best GF ever etc etc, played in prime time (or near enough to it).

The AFL GF featuring a WA team (game started at 1pm in WA), the game was done and dusted by HT and it was played in a ratings dead zone.

Well done.
but but but you better get thinking for your next excuse.

Regional would be slightly under 60%. but in all likelihood the regional figure is for Syd & Bris only and would be over 60%. Either way there a long way of the 1/3 there claiming on Sunday. when sky numbers are put in they wont be far behind last year.
