Some oldies but goldies

This ones from 2005. talking about the Swans and there unrivalled success :(/ :(/

"AFL spent 300k of their hard earned promoting last Saturday night's game at Telstra Stadium and what happens ? Every rival free-to-air station beats it yet again. According to 2UE's John Stanley the AFL struggled to get out of the 90,000's for a good portion of the telecast and was well beaten throughout the entire game by 9 (Chicken Run ), 7, and the ABC. And for a 40 minute period was again beaten by SBS and that wonderful repeat, overdubbed show.. The Iron Chef................"

from the Swans home site
2011 :(/ "I just checked out the Sydney ratings for last night's Swans v Hawthorn game. In Sydney only 97,000 people bothered to tune in. Even Iron Chef pulled in a bigger audience of 125,000. The game came last in the ratings for its timeslot in Sydney." :(/ :(/ :(/

I predict nothing more than an increase from the current $500 million deal to approx $780 - $800 million. Many media buyers and journalists agree. The NRL has nothing extra to sell this time round. They've previously sold out on things like Monday night football and a twighlight grand final. What else is there to offer the tv networks to get
anywhere near $1 billion from the current deal of $500 million?

Hear it is again in case you missed it :(/ :_<>

I think it is hilarious that you think the NRL will double its current deal of $500 million with nothing extra to offer the tv networks after selling out on Monday night football and a night grand final in the last deal. Any network that pays double the current amount for nothing new ain't real smart when it comes to business if you ask me and are in fact doing a diservice to their shareholders.
