KE's In Perspective - Episode 3 (special stats episode) - The Blithering Basketcase League

Post by King-Eliagh »

Dearest dearest members :) Welcome, yes welcome to another live and factual episode of ....

KE's In Perspective

Yep tonight its the AFL's Blithering Basketcase folks. Indeedy doody this episode's gonna be a ripper so stay tuned and don't leave ur screen for a second!

Yeaaaaahhhhp its been years now, well since 2011 that ol KE has been telling the AFL supporters of Talking Footy's fight club that the AFL expansion and subsequent over dilution of talent has created a ghastly basketcase league in the bottom six of the league. A group of teams so shithouse, they simply cant compete 9 times outta ten unless they are playing another fellow basketcase club. Its been unfolding right before our eyes yet astoundingly we receive utter ignorance from the AFL fans.

Their response has ranged from :?> to :blahblah: to :-$ to :puke: to :drunk: to :**** to  to :? [-( but never once, nope never once have they admitted ol KE was right and that there was a massive chasm between the top 12 teams and bottom 6 developed as a result of the AFL expansion. Well folks, its time to go all John Rambo on their asses and shoot out some cold hard numbers.  :thumbleft:   The following stats have been compiled by KE and are copyright to KE's In perspective Ltd.

Yep unfortunately below, year by year is a run down of the averaged %'s of the bottom 6 AFL blithering basketcase teams between the four years starting 2011 (the year AFL expansion GC thuns entered) to 2014 and then, by comparison the averaged %'s of the bottom 6 AFL teams from the four years pre blithering basketcase league 2010-2007.

Let's start with the bottom 6 avg % of 2007 shall we :D

2007 - 84.14%
2008 - 82.33%
2009 - 82.68%
2010 - 83.58%

All above 83%.... but now enter dun dun dunnnnn the GC Thuns! :_<>

2011 8-[ - 76.79%
2012 8-[ - 69.56%
2013 [-o< 76.13%
2014 #-o 74.47%
2015 (round 17) ](*,) 75.22%

:(/ It's not getting any better. The competition just aint what she used to be folks.

You saw and heard it here first folks!!! On .... KE's - In Perspective!!!

KE, you seem to like stats, here is a task for you, 50% of the AFL share 2 grounds, 70% share 4 grounds. Do you know of any other league in the world that is that concentrated.

The AFL love talking how big their attendance figures are, and how they are big worldwide etc, I have had a run over with my eyes with the current season, would love to see you throw some crunching behind it how the AFL perform when you remove Melbourne teams playing Melbourne teams and how they effect the averages. Looks like SA and WA actually hold their own when not playing the other local team, they do pretty good against visiting teams, not sure the Melbourne teams are as goods as they think.

We know that the AFL schedule is not even, so would be interesting to see how it goes when they are removed
Football in NSW
- Football 200,868
- AFL NSW/ACT 28,468
- Rugby League 96,041
- Rugby Union 40,685
Football has 22% more players than the other football codes combined

That's a Very good point.
70% of the teams in a competition play at only 4 grounds.
when you look at it like that, it is very unique.

They talk there heads off about Crowd figures,
but I would rather a Sydney team playing at home for example belmore and getting 19k as they did on sunday

then multiple Melbourne teams playing out of the MCG and ETHIAD and getting 30-40k with crowd teams split.

there is No home Advantage and I think it looks pathetic

I agree, home advantage is huge in my sport of football, but added to that is the idea of traveling to another teams fortress, and better yet beating them at home their home. It is a big feeling, hate the idea of "sharing" grounds.

Now someone might need to check my maths but for the 2015 season my calculations put the 9 Melbourne teams (ie 50% of the League) playing each other 98 times. Which would mean in a 143 game season 68.5% of the matches are between Melbourne teams, seems a bit fishy to me.

KE would love you to check my figures

Yep Agreed!
Playing at home should be a Fortress and hard to win at, and when looking into the stands you see 90% of your home fans!

I hope the NRL do not fall in the same trap the AFL have.( to earn a few extra million)

Lordy Lordy lordy lordy my,

If my stats above outlining the AFL's decline in competition quality I.e the rise of the blithering basketcase league weren't harrowing enough to register for our oblivious shitfobrained AFL fans get a load of this!

Rugby League commentator michael cos's has answered the question of
what does the bottom half of the ladder say about the competition?

That no game can ever be taken for granted in the NRL.

The fact that until Monday's loss by the Panthers we could have had the bottom seven clubs finish on 22 points is incredible.

The line between what is perceived as success or failure in a season has perhaps never been finer.

If the Dragons were to lose on Saturday to Wests Tigers, and Manly go down to Cronulla; 26 points would have been enough to make the playoffs. That's 11 wins and 13 losses.

Some will say on raw numbers that shouldn't be good enough to warrant a finals berth, but that would be ignoring the closeness of the overall competition.]
The bottom seven clubs in the nrl all have 10wins or more with one round to go in a comp with only two games more than ur AFL 'comp'*coughbullshit'etition

The bottom 7 in the AFL on the other hand, have only one team whod even come close to the nrl's cellar dwellar, even if there was another two games in the AFL season. collingwood are in seventh last with ten wins

Below collingwood they got stkilda and melbs in 6th and fifth last on a measly six wins and likely to stay there after this weekend. essendon fourth last with a measly five wins and likely to stay there after this weekend  then there's gold coast and Carlton in at third and second last with a measly four wins and likely not to change after this last weekend of footy. And last but not least we have the brissie Bears! They managed three wins for their fans this season, again they're likely to give their fans another loss to view this weekend

What a shithouse competition. Lopsided to fukkin billio yet I've not seen one of our AFL brain dead zombies on here actually acknowledge this reality...and its been displayed by yours truly for four years runnin now

Anyone wanna bet that if I put the averages together that in the last four years the avg amount of wins to get into an AFL finals series has clearly risen in comparison to the years prior?

You heard it here first folks!!!

On
