And those crowds and memberships rival the people watching them on TV.

What's the Storms memberships figure and crowd average this years in relation to any of the AFL clubs in Melbourne? Also interesting to see comparisons.

What exaggerated numbers taken from a few hundred rating boxes? As opposed to having pathetic crowds and membership numbers to the AFL teams!ParraEelsNRL wrote:And those crowds and memberships rival the people watching them on TV.

Australian sporting sponsorship
AFL excess of $50m
A league $30 million plus
ARU $27 million
NRLOL $25 million

Don't care if they are LIC simply because the more fake they are and the higher they go, the more $$$$$ the NRL will get.

Did you take my OP images down and hence corrupt the thread?The_Wookie wrote:So lets play.King-Eliagh wrote:There isn't one
No presence in Sydney.
For the Swans alone -
- Largest club membership in Sydney - check. (48,379 - next best is Rabbitohs at 35,185). Even allowing for Melbourne based supporters the Swans are likely still ahead.
- Largest average crowds of any club in Sydney - check. (29,755 - next best is Canterbury at 21,889)
- SCG crowds average is the highest of any AFL or NRL stadium in Sydney at 31k. Next best is Stadium Australia at 20k for the NRL (where the Swans average 25k by the way).
But yeah, no presence.
Anyho.... the images showed one of those 'claw' games where you put a dollar in and direct the claw to the prize you like best. The image showed all codes of football represented and I think it might have had netball and volleyball balls in there as well for young littlons to try their hands at winning.
It didn't have an AFL sherrin tho

Now wookster lets put your BS into perspective so the members can a) see the big picture in Sydney, and b) acknowledge my superior knowledge of the footy scene.
1. The swans are the only AFL club in Sydney bar GWS and well, we all know what GWS is - a baby that's never gonna grow up and will be forever sucking on the AFL's teet. Actually the AFL acknowledged its gonna take 30 years+. Imagine if you fathered a baby for thirty years? ... my prediction? GWS will be outta the AFL family and in foster care by 2025, unfortunately GWS will die by 2030...from 'neglect'

2. The NRL have 9 teams in Sydney. So lets proportion the numbers following NRL compared to following AFL in Sydney shall we? i mean thats what the thread is about AFL's presence in comparison to NRLs presence so ya gotta add em all together wook ya silly drongo. The AFL swans barely gets 30k per fortnight and the stadium holds 48odd thousand

3. All together the NRL absolutely monsters the AFL in Sydney. Soccer and rugby union are also larger presences. Hence if you play on a sports claw machine in Sydney the AFL presence will be....zilch

Stick to the topic wookie. :D

Re: The AFL's presence in sydney

Wookster ol wookster you cranky bugger, relax bro, I can explain errrrrrythang. The zilch or 'there isn't one' reference was referring to the image I produced, which used to be up there. Obviously a site update has made it now faulty.
So to make it clear, the AFL had zilcho presence in the claw game and in comparison to rl in this city it's also, basically zilcho

You understand me bro? It's not rocket science man.

Like most jokes KE if you have to explain it then it isn't funny - until we see this photo then how can we assess your argument - but let's think about thisKing-Eliagh wrote:

9 clubs in Sydney - Average membership - well let's say 15k
Average crowd let's say about 15k
Average TV ratings 300 k per game approx per game so about 150k each.
Sydney Swans Crowd average 29k
Membership 48k
Average TV ratings approx 50 FTA and say about 50 Foxtel (in Sydney)
Well that means even with TV ratings considered 1 Swans club = 2 NRL clubs
Therefore realistic to suggest Figjam has a failed argument!
When you go further and weigh up revenue, GWS, the NEAFL, 3 divisions of Senior football and 6 regions of Juniors - his argument falls flat on its face.
LARGEST MEMBERSHIP, LARGEST PROFIT, LARGEST HOME CROWD AVERAGE - THE BIGGEST CLUB IN SYDNEY - THE SYDNEY SWANS
