STATE of Origin stars Greg Bird and Dave Taylor are the latest Gold Coast Titans charged in the cocaine crisis rocking the NRL club.

Bird and Taylor were this afternoon served with notices to front court, just hours after the Titans arrived back on the Glitter Strip from a trial match in Cairns.

Six past and current players have now been charged over the scandal.

Winger Kalifa Faifai Loa and former squad member Joe Vickery were charged today, while hooker Beau Falloon and fringe first grader Jamie Dowling were charged on Friday.

Bird has been one of the club’s best players for the past five years and was co-captain until he was busted urinating in public in Byron Bay the day after his wedding late last year.

Titans players arrived back on the Gold Coast from Cairns this morning, with most refusing to comment as they left the airport.

Vickery, 25, is a former Titans squad member who spent the last two seasons playing in the British Super League, including stints at Leeds and Wakefield.

He has since returned to the Gold Coast but is not an active member on the Titans roster.

Faifai Loa, also 25, joined the Titans last year after playing stints with St George Illawarra and North Queensland Cowboys.

He has played Test football for the Kiwis and Samoa.

Falloon was named Titans player of the year last season, while Dowling has played 12 first grade games.

Titans players will attend a series of crisis meetings with their managers, club officials and lawyers on the Gold Coast on Sunday night with some managers planning to meet their players at Gold Coast Airport on Sunday afternoon in case police are present to serve them on site.

he was playing for the Suns and Reds. But its pretty obvious he was dealing with his Titans mates. Neither code's ilicit drugs policy outed him, nor did the NRL's policy for the multiple Titans players, despite their 2 strike (cough cough) policy.

Gold Coast Suns players to be questioned over Karmichael Hunt allegations of cocaine use

The chief executive of the Gold Coast Suns says players will have to decide whether to tell him if anyone took drugs during end-of-season celebrations.

Players will be questioned by club officials over the next few days to investigate evidence provided to police by former player Karmichael Hunt and later leaked to and reported in News Corp publications.

Up to six other unnamed current and past players used cocaine during an end-of-season trip last year, it was reported.

A party on the Gold Coast was reportedly followed by a Sunshine Coast golf trip a week later where drugs were also allegedly used.

Suns chief executive Andrew Travis said he had not had access to the statement, nor had the allegations been verified.

Mr Travis has written to the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) and Hunt's lawyers to try to get the statement, although he thinks it is unlikely it will be passed on.

"There [have] been allegations," he said.

"Up until this point in time we have nothing to suggest any of it is correct.

"We want to act where we need to act because we have standards we want to deliver on, and it's just difficult when you don't have the information."

While players have previously failed to come clean on allegations of drug use, Mr Travis said they would be questioned again.

"It's not always about being liked by each other," he said.

"It about getting the balance between being respected and being liked.

"That's the challenge the players have, whether they are prepared to be transparent or they stick with wanting to protect their mates.

"Our players have proven that they've been trustworthy over a long period of time and you're talking about the majority of the group.

"Maybe from time to time not all players will keep the standard that we expect of them and I think that would be normal in any football club when you have 45 individuals on a playing roster."

Despite the allegations, Mr Travis did not believe the Suns' players had a drug issue. If the allegations are true, it may have been just an isolated incident during end-of-year celebrations, he said.

"What we're looking at is an end-of-season matter," Mr Travis said.

"It's a period that the whole industry has determined is high risk."

Suns skipper Gary Ablett has denied any involvement in the alleged cocaine scandal.

"I definitely wasn't part of that and I had no idea anything like that was going on."

The barrister representing Hunt said he was undecided if he would make a formal complaint over the leaking of the police statement.

Alistair McDougall said Hunt's cooperation with police and the CCC did not result in lesser charges, as had previously been reported. Rather, it mitigated the sentence.

In March, Hunt pleaded guilty to cocaine use and was fined $2,500, without conviction.

The CCC and Queensland Police have been contacted to comment on how the newspapers got the statement, and if they would have an internal investigation into a possible leak.

A police spokeswoman said they were unable to comment as it was a CCC investigation.
