It's a bit cold in sydney and a bit colder near the Coast at manly so Id guess four hundred odd thousand fans decided to stay indoors and watch it from the comfort of their own homes.

It's also a superior product on the tele. :)

Lol .

Another bizarre claim .

Interest is more than crowds ( it was a manly game ...lucky they got that many)

Tell me genius .
How many people will watch RL this weekend in Syd ..crowds & tv ...that is interest .

Tell me how many will watch Aflol .....

You seem to make the claim every week ,
Long before regional figures come out .

& as has been said before but conveniently pushed aside by you mob .

We have more than one level .
But it's all RL .
You mob like to highlight the negative side of a rep comp ..
The positive in my view more than makes up for it .

One midweek game will go close yo outrating your whole rd .

Thanks for coming .

oh ffs your regionals have consistently been 60-65% of your metro figure all year. Last night will therefore be no higher than 900k total. Add your 8k at the ground for a stagerring 908k. The AFL was 670k without foxtel and regionals. It'll be close to 1.15m all up. Add the 45k at the ground and it will be near 1.2m.

Yes your 3 SOO games are huge, but do they make up the huge difference between the two national competitions?

It's all quite simple really. Melbs has done well in regards to city infrastructure for sporting events. It's a piece of piss to get to the AFL games in melbs ie only two stadiums in the centre of city.

Rl has a more local scene with smaller stadiums in smaller suburbs of a much more widespread city.

Thus it's harder to get to rl games.

The other factor, the AFL is a game that simply doesn't transfer well to the tv screen. It looks very messy and the experience is much better if you see it at the field its played on. Rl is perfectly suited to tv.

Hence smaller crowds but larger tv viewing audiences.

Quite simple really.

the AFL had those club grounds way out in the suburbs but went away from them in the late 80s/90s. but went away from them because them clubs couldn't afford to build them into modern stadiums. the current NRLOL crowd levels ate at where the AFL was in the 60s :)))

the NRLOL clubs struggle to half fill their current club ground, built from tax payer funding, hell, when they do play in the larger stadiums of ANZ and ALLIANZ they are nearly empty on most occasions!

in regards to infrastructure, its BS its best summed up with the Minnowbourne Storm, crowd of 10k last monday :(/

yes its quite simple, not nearly many people follow NRLOL as they do AFL :)))

League couldn't even sell out their biggest game of the year last Wednesday, no other sport has trouble selling out their biggest games

Melbs infrastructure has to do with the city of melbourne not the AFL adumb yA silly metho swiller.

As for melbs Storm, they're relatively new and are doing well on TV as I suggested. Plus the away fan numbers at melbourne Storm games must be fairly minimal.

Quite simple really.

Utter horseshit. Waverley park used to be an AFL ground up until 1999. It averaged around 30k for home and away games, and near 58k for finals. Yet it was located in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne, and no where near any train line. The only public transport access was buses.

As for TV, the AFL has out rated the NRL on TV for weeks on end. So there goes your 'better on TV' BS
