A 'boofhead' indeed. I for one am no fan of Eddie. Wish he would just STFU to be honest. Not sure what his hatred of all things Sydney appears to be about. Jealousy perhaps. Upset that he never worked out when in charge of Channel 9 in Sydney perhaps?

Fans of Sydney Swans star Adam Goodes no doubt already hold the opinion, but the NSW parliament has just placed it on the official record: TV personality and Collingwood president Eddie McGuire is a "boofhead".

The upper house passed a motion containing the declaration on Wednesday, following McGuire's criticism of Goodes' "war dance" in celebration of a goal against Carlton last Friday night.

Goodes has said he learned the dance from the Flying Boomerangs, a junior indigenous AFL team.

But McGuire labelled the war dance a "made-up dance, this is not something that has been going on for years".

"Had we known before the game that Adam or the indigenous players were planning to do some sort of war cry, we could have been able to educate and understand the situation," McGuire said.

"It's almost like what the government has to do as far as the equal rights marriage situation is concerned. There are people out there who are frightened, people don't understand, you have to put it into context and take people along for the ride."

On Wednesday, Greens MP Jeremy Buckingham put forward a motion in the NSW upper house chipping McGuire.

The motion declared support for Goodes' actions and noted his Aboriginality and sporting achievements.

It condemned McGuire for "his comments that 'this is a made-up dance, this is not something that has been going on for years'," and for "being a continual boofhead".

The Legislative Council passed the motion.

Mr Buckingham said the upper house had "recognised that Adam Goodes is a sensational footballer, a great Australian and a mentor to many, and supported his cultural expression in celebrating a great goal".

"As a life-long Collingwood supporter, I'm embarrassed by Eddie McGuire's blunders and racial gaffes, so I'm glad the NSW Upper House has officially condemned Mr McGuire for being a 'continual boofhead'," he said.

McGuire has previously been in hot water with Goodes after he joked on radio he could be used to promote a musical, King Kong. He apologised for the remark.

I haven't followed this at all, haven't seen the footage didn't hear what was said, AFL rates the slightest blip on my Radar, but reading his quote in the post above, how stupid. My summary is "people are scared of aboriginal dances, we must educate them so they don't go bat shit crazy and make us look bad"

As NRL does in Melb, Adelaide, Tas, Etc etc! Hahaha 1 % of NSW is 70000 1% in Adelaide is on 10000 - means NRL is virtually non existence - yet the Swans still outdraw EVERY NSW NRL club and has more members! Yet NRL has no claims like that! Hahaha oh bubbler boy!

I don't think he intentionally dishes him I just think because he was the one demanding changes to COLA and the Academy drafting system that it has all collected there is only two incidents with Goodes,

It says more about the ignorance of the man really than pure racism. It shows that apart from Collingwood he has little to know interest in other things, I found this by doing a search a long time before this incident tried to find the one with Goodes.
