When you're the 12th biggest sport in a country
You dont get to host world cups
Only fail in them
 no!

the nrl were 160% behind the bid

you practically begged us to renovate your stadiums

the AFL stuck to their guns and you know what, good for them. If you truly want to be the #1 sport in this country then you have to eliminate all doubt

the nrl on the other hand were looking for hand outs left right and centre. new stadium in penrith, upgrades to all your suburban grounds. you even offered to stop your competition for 90 days and roll out the red carpet for us...ya grimey plebs

Was pathetic how desperate the NRL were in sucking up to the FFA in the hope they may get some new stadiums that they could never fill anyway. Such whores lol

In light of moves by SBS to dump their A-League coverage all together, I guess it's a given the move of the A-League from SBS2 to the primary SBS channel has not resulted in any improvement to the tv ratings for the A-League yeah?

I would say this is correct.

ratings were pathetic and Fox were just as worst.

or it might just have something to do with the Government cutting significant funding from them (and the abc).

And talks are underway with Channel 9 to show the Saturday night game if Fox sports agree, wouldn't surprise me if 10 goes for it as well. BBL lasts for 6 weeks

be interesting if they FTA networks to do go for the A league.

one thing that affects the A League for FTA networks, Is no Adverts until halftime.
the next 18mths will be very interesting to who gets what
with everyone fighting for SPORT

Sport is the big one because people watch it live can't skip ads, football because of the non stop doesn't work well in that, they just have to get smarter on how to advertise during the game

Another issue is Socceroos games are not linked to A League rights, something NRL would do well to think about

With the A league gaining popularity when does their TV rights come up for bidding?? They should get a lot more. Big profile in Melb now - a lot of people pissed off with AFL for not moving the Western Bulldogs game at Edihad.

Agreed but sometimes depends how you sell the message - think the AFL could have handled a bit differently - made the AFL look scared of gaining popularity of Melb Vic. In the end thou your right HAL should have foreseen this a long time ago!

Very True & the Viewer will be fully focused on the Advert.

I think we may see one of the FTA networks go for it, 2 games a week on the & mate, GEM or one
just depends how much they want it for, and how much they are willing to pay.
