fact is AFL fans nor players actually want SOO. Neither supported it when we did have it so it died. Thats the facts. Like me, most AFL fans would rather see their own club play than a meaningless rep game with a contrived team. Thats the way it is and it wont change

"Almost 60 per cent of voters in the 2014 Herald Sun Footy Fans Survey said there should be an Origin clash between AFL states or an All-Star game at the start of next season."
yeah, great, a meaningless survey. The majority of fans dont want it. The topic comes up regularly on BF and its canned every time

I Think the AFL would love to have it.
As they love taking over things.

They would be over the moon if they could generate a mid year ORIGIN rating around the 4million mark..

I think they are afraid it will be a Big Flop!

There game doesnt have the appeal our game has. You only need look at there ratings - down - down - down. There sport no longer hAs the fan support it once did. As you say, it would just be another flop, and would mean more bank loans for the AFL. So Yes, I think they are afraid - petrified!

Wow, do you lot ever talk about anything other than TV ratings? Sheesh anyone reading would be led to believe you have the biggest TV deal in the country based on the amount of dribble posted about TV ratings. Get some new material ffs No. 2.

Last year the NRL went backwards in crowds and ratings so maybe worry about your own code

"On the back of a massive year in television ratings in 2014, NRL could be an even bigger spectacle in 2015 boosted by live free-to-air Sunday football.

NRL provided the three highest-rating shows on Australian television last year and held four of the top five sporting programs. Built on anticipation of the NSW Blues snapping an eight-year State of Origin drought, Origin II drew a massive 4,118,000 viewers.

Origin Game I, the second-highest rating show of the year, drew 4,093,000 viewers becoming the most-watched Origin series opener in history.

The NRL Grand Final, which saw was the third most-viewed program with 3,965,000 viewers – the most-watched Grand Final ever.

In other positive ratings news, the mid-season Trans Tasman Test was the most-watched in that fixture's history, up nine per cent on last year to draw 1,470,000 million viewers. Ratings in 2015 could be even bigger."

I think your aware of the ever decreasing AFL figures without me having to post them.

no, Ive seen the NRL figures drop. SOO continues to rate well but the NRL is on the nose
http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/ ... 7054536927
FOR the second year running, the NRL has suffered a major ratings hit with TV audiences down by another 3.6 million across Australia and New Zealand in 2014.

The NRL has also failed to reach its crowd target of 16,500 for this season, recording a 15,900 average that was almost identical to last year’s attendance result.

The Daily Telegraph yesterday obtained the final TV ratings figures for the 26-round regular season, which reveal significant drops for all three official broadcasters — Channel Nine, Fox Sports, and Sky New Zealand.

So the ratings were down, and we know the crowds were down. The AFLs crowds were up and the ratings held steady

Here's a few more -
- 140,000 new juniors last year
– The three highest ratings shows on TV in 2014
– Season that goes from February to November
– 22 attendance records, including that big Easter crowd
– Massive social media reach
– Regions crying out for teams
– Focus on the Pacific,
– New Zealand TV contract
– Internet/mobile rates are way up
– NRL has the widest reach, largest junior networks/second tier
– Memberships broke 250k last year, and are increasing again 10per cent this year too, seemingly.

The article you Quote from is for the 1st few rounds of the season. Even you should be able to figure out that rating and crowds will vary depending on what teams are playing and where.

Any small fall in ratings is due to the massive increases in IT devices.

[XMan/BS Man]" The AFLs crowds were up and the ratings held steady' . Is that some kind of joke?

Ratings down in some areas but up in others.

4 NATIONS RECORD RATINGS AND CROWDS

STATE OF ORIGIN 1 & 2 SMASHED YOUR AFL FINAL IN THE TELEVISION RATINGS.

SUPER CLUB CHALLENGE IS GROWING IN SUPPORT TOO.

NRL GRAND FINAL BEAT AFLS GRAND FINAL IN RATINGS.

AFL is a very limited code. Has white Aussies and a few indigenous fans and that is pretty much it.

Islanders have no interest in AFL and neither do the English.

You just have to look at the poor interest in AFL in Sydneys West. A place that is very multicultural and has zero respect for your precious Victorian game.

Then the Wanderers come and they go crazy for them in the first year while the Giants have falling crowds, merchandise and sponsors lol

This really shows how little hope AFL has in ever getting other cultures to follow such a shite sport.
