The evidence is that in 2014, the four northern clubs (Swans, GWS, Brisbane Lions, Gold Coast Suns) attracted a total of 948,000 to 46 games in NSW/ACT and QLD. An average of 20,608 per game.

The AFL is not the dominant code in the northern states. But it is seriously significant. And growing ...and growing ...and growing.

Phil Gould warned NRL Central not to underestimate the AFL.

Comon ol chap, there's no denying the flipped avgs between nrl and AFL avg crowds and tv audiences in nsw and qld. And there's also no denying the awfully low AFL tv ratings in these states. My point is valid and backed up by both the numbers and others' opinions re the AFL and watching live vis a vis tv. You can't refute it can you brucey?

948k is great, but de cwowds is pretty much it in terms of the numbers. AFL is going backwards in western sydney, since 2005 sydney siders have become less and less interested to watch the swans compete in the gf, brisbane AFL is a car wreck with cwowds going backwards. Gws is the laughing stock of professional sporting organisations. These are all facts. And I predict The Gold Coast are about to go back to where they belong around the bottom of the table this year.
