Who cares when they can get a million for a club game at midnight, RL might be small compared to Soccer in the UK, but it is in no way as small as some of you think it. It does quite well for a code that broke away and is still ignored 120 years after by the local media, truly Rugby League is the cockroach of world sport.

That figure is about 3 times the normal Rugby Union ratings on BT sport just from the sky figures.
Yeah Rugby League has a lot of more potential to grow more internationally than AFL ever will. So many new growth nations for the sport now like Thailand and Czech Republic that have local competions.

Of course soccer is by far the biggest football code in the world. But Rugby League definitely has the potential to become more global.

Potential yes, but sure I agree after all, you could argue Union is more global and has been for longer, but growth is glacial. So not sure I agree

Football in NSW
- Football 200,868
- AFL NSW/ACT 28,468
- Rugby League 96,041
- Rugby Union 40,685
Football has 22% more players than the other football codes combined

Hey, that's a national team in a world cup you moron, 2 million is still 2 million LESS than a run of the mill State of origin or grand final game.

And incase you missed the LINK with the NUMBERS, I'll POST it AGAIN.
With 330,000 viewers watching the game live on SKY pay TV in the United Kingdom and another 1 million tuning in to a highlights package on the BBC, Crown got exposure in the UK the company would not have otherwise attracted.

There you go stupid, if you think it's all a lie that I am posting, take it up with the SMH and this lot at Barb http://www.barb.co.uk/

Of course Union is more global, but Rugby League is miles ahead of AFL with their international presence.

AFL can't even get NZ on board so what hope do they have for anywhere else???

theres a guy on youtube that used to upload vids of rugby league competitions in the czech republic

they play on soccer pitches with league posts made out of branches. (exact type of thing i saw in tonga actually, quite smart really but hilarious at the same time) teams playing in soccer kits with sown over badges while the onlookers(farmers in the background catteling sheep) watched in envy

i think you guys are really flogging a dead horse when it comes to international AFL, apart from the sub forum on here i dont really see AFL fans on here beating their chests about it besides good old cos.

but its cool, you guys can take safe haven into thinking your own sport is somehow "international"

As for flogging a dead horse you have two of them lol.. AFL international cup and the A league .

Both second rate and going no where, apart from the Wanderers that are putting GWS to shame. :(/ :(/ :(/

Then you have AFL trying to get NZ into there shit game and that is going even worse lol =D> =D>

You know what else those rugby fields are used for?

The Czech AFL.
How do they play on a rectangular field though?

Its a modified version of the game played in Europe and the USA, sometimes across two rugby pitches, sometimes they just "round off the corners of a rugby field" according to people ive interviewed over there. Same deal in the US for some areas without access to full size ovals. Generally with reduced numbers, between 12-14 a side.
Ah ok, I guess it must be possible.
