I doubt the A League transmits all it's games to New Zealand because of the time difference. That would have pushed the down button on the price.

Also remember this - there isn't as much advertising money in NZ because of the lower population base. On a ratio basis to compare it to the AFL and NRL TV rights deals it rises to about $511,000. Yes it's still a long way behind, but it's a more realistic comparison.
The A League and NRL are both on Sky Sports.
which is a paid service like fox sports (I am pretty sure of)
regards to ad revenue I have no idea about, but the NRL had no problem securing there good contract
with the late delay and only one team..

The A League games would not be on that much of a delay with the latest played at 10pm...
with afternoon and evening games played in prime time in NZ.

I have a feeling the VFL pay NZ broadcasters to televise it ova there
they don't get a cent
& in fact it costs them to have fumblers derping & missing on Kiwi TV's

but lets get back to sooker

hows this for a fact

the FFA get 20 Million a year from Australian broadcasters to televise sooker in Australia
the NRL get 20 Million a year from NZ Broadcasters to televise the NRL in NZ

Mate that would not surprise me that AFL pay NZ to broadcast their sport. AFL is probably like a paid presentation infomercial to the Kiwis. :_<> :_<>

why is the TV rights in NZ so low for the HAL?

I have no idea, probably because football isn't that popular in NZ. That is my guess
Football in NSW
- Football 200,868
- AFL NSW/ACT 28,468
- Rugby League 96,041
- Rugby Union 40,685
Football has 22% more players than the other football codes combined

assuming the only reason is a TV deal which is a rather narrow way of looking at things. It appears the NRL boys on here are the only ones that are fixated on TV deals. There are a host of other things that come into a team being in a competition.
