It also holds true for any sporting team especially National. How much support is there for the Australian Cricket team when they are not playing? or the Hockeyroos, or the Wallabies.The_Wookie wrote:Well you let us know when there is any tangible financial benefit to soccer in this country as a result. Broadcast rights for the ACL and Asian Cup are held by the Asian Confederation not the FFA, so local soccer benefits not a whit. The Socceroos have massive support in this country - and thats cool - but it disasppears when they arent actually playing.post_hoc wrote:and yet it does, the 100 million is a massive bargaining point, huge exposure for Australian Brands, just like the ACL now the Wanderers have won it will be.
The NRL know it, but clearly the fan boys aren't bright enough.
100 million watched the socceroos
How do you measure support when a team is not playing?
I think what Wookie was saying..
Is when the socceroos are playing, Everyone gets behind them,
but once it is all over, "these Soccer People just disappear and do not follow the A League.
it does not translate into anything.
People just hop on the bandwagon when there winning...
NSW BLUES FOR EXAMPLE lost 8 straight series
But NSW BLUES Just seemed to get more Popular..
I could not say the same if this happened to the socceroos.
