im pretty sure they own it. the only AFL club that owns their traditional home ground
all of the other traditional Melbourne clubs, lease the land and build the facility in it. Essendon took out a 50 year lease on the land & built their new facility on it. same with the pies & the westpac centre,

Yep they packed up and moved in with all their fiercest rivals, I hope the NRL doesn't go full hog and make every team play out of 2 or 3 stadiums in Sydney, it just won't work for a start, but the second part is the melbourne clubs not really having their own patch anymore, it's kinda sad in a way. You can understand 2 or 3 maybe 4 clubs playing out of 1 or 2 stadiums, but not all of them..

it will depend if they can afford to fund the upgrades himself as the NSW state government has stated it will stop funding suburban ovals.

Astonishingly enough, this actually appears to be correct. I was wrong. It happens.

So no AFL club owns their stadium. They just have very long leases on council property.

The article clearly says that they have a 75 year lease. The title block says that they are the owner.

All the more reason not to rely on it I think.
