Well at least the long weekend was not a complete waste, the Old Port boys still bet the Old Crow bastards...

Charity 'Slowdown' gathers pace at AAMI Stadium

MOVING the Slowdown from Adelaide Oval to AAMI Stadium has been warmly received by football fans.

Final score:- Port Adelaide 17.10 (112) d. Crows 15.6 (96).

A large crowd has gathered at AAMI Stadium for the annual charity football match which supports the McGuinness McDermott Foundation.

Former Adelaide captain and key driver of the event Chris McDermott said he was pleased with the number of fans out to cheer on the superstars of the past.

With many Port fans still licking their wounds following the AFL grand final drubbing at the hands of Geelong, it was the Crows fans out in force for the event.

There will be no surprise then, that it was many of the Crows players who were crowd favourites.

Ryan "Fitzy'" Fitzgerald whipped the crowd into a frenzy with an early goal.

The man dubbed "Godra", Tony Modra, proved he could still make the fans cheer despite being the proud owner of a dodgy handlebar moustache.

Former Power skipper Matthew Primus was one of the star turns for Port and he looked fit enough to still be turning out in the AFL for his former club.

Funds raised from this year's event will go to the Women's and Children's Hospital for ward improvements.
