You won't get an argument from me about the boundary umpires, Dogsact! I remember when I was living in Canberra and umpiring there we had the beep test. Three boundary umpires outlasted the best fieldy (the last boundary dropped off at 15).

For the record I got to 10. And I was goal umpiring at the time!!

Actually - on the eyesight - don't laugh! I'm serious. Not because they miss free kicks but because they get blinded by these ridiculous guernseys that are littering the place! And missing their buddies as well because one week they wear orange and the next they wear yellow etc etc.

And that confusion is bound to have an effect on their mental health!

(I hung up the boots just in time I think!!)
