Naaaa, the crowd records in NSW and Qld all belong to Rugby League.

Most of these crowd records were higher than the capacity thanks to the mighty Australian Kangaroos. Then the people in charge along with the police started thinking about crowd safety and since those days, they have laws on how many people can fit in stadiums.

the SCG crowd you talk about happened in 1965, which no doubt would have been a GF
the first time the NRL ever made the 50k plus crowd for a no GF game was a few years ago and only ever done it on 2 or 3 occasions for a game
the only time league has ever really gotten a decent crowd has been for the grand final & SOO
