Firstly were talking about the present and were talking about club football . So forget about the other for the time being. Thats an argument for another day.

PTV matches: the NRL has 5 x 24 most weeks though not all -5 = 115 , the AFL has 9 x 22 = 198

FTA matches : the NRL has 3 x 24 = 68 , The AFL have . I don't know the number but its many more.
Completely irrelevant because AFL games are shown on fox and FTA simultaneously so each viewer is only counted once and in fact can only watch one telecast at a time.

In fact the NRL have a clear advantage in scheduling because almost none of their games are shown concurrently where as almost all AFL games are, which splits the TV audience into two. This is why you try desperately to count averages only and why it's completely misleading.

Fact is no matter which way you cut it the AFL is Australias number 1 sport on TV which is fitting given theyre the number one crowd puller, money earner, membership signer, and almost every other category also.

Yeah , 80 extra games - generally live & shown into there home market, is completely irrelevant. :_<> :_<> Meanwhile the NRL are showing most of there FTA matches on delay , quiet a few after 10 O'Clock at night and yet still average 800k.

Whilst Wookie is an unashamed AFL supporter I also think he is a reasonable man and tries to avoid bias. If Wookie came on here and said, overall, which ever way you look at it, AFL beats nrl in ratings for home and away across Australia as a whole, I'd take it as that. He is however stating that AFL win the TV ratings in this country for home and away.

What wookie is saying - or what his stats show , is that a NRL match outrates the AFL match on both PTV and FTA .The AFL can accumulate more ratings, at club level, due to the fact that it has a many many more matches.

Care to explain how the 208 televised AFL matches are 80 more than the nrls 205 televised matches? You certainly are a wizz at math.

Just to echoe Wookie's point, your idea of extra matches isnt really extra matches at all. It's merely extra telecasts that are shown simultaneously by Foxtel. And again as Wookie explained, viewers cannot watch or be counted watching FTA and foxtel at the same time, so the fact the AFL is shown on both means nothing for ratings. Therefore the ratings lead the AFL has is genuine.

You're dissapointed, we get that, but stop these pathetic excuses, you're embarrasing yourself.

you honestly think that? :?> :?> :?> Without going into Free to Air you have an additional 83 more matches covered on PTV. When you add FTA coverage, well...if your not embarrassed by the difference in total ratings you should be.

surely you're taking the piss. The 80 extra AFL games on payTV are ALL shown on FTA at the same time. The audience watching payTV are NOT watching FTA and are therefore NOT counted in the FTA ratings, making them lower by the size of the PayTV audience. The net effect is the same audience as would be counted if the games were only FTA only. The only advantage is provided to foxtel because they sell subscriptions at the expense of Ch7 who lose out on ratings.

It's irrelevant how many games are on either network. The only relevance is the number of games on TV overall, and we have about the same.

The NRL Average on Fox is 210K , on FTA its 800k 4 times the difference. Our Highest rating game on Fox was 350k , on FTA was 1.3m a difference of 1m extra viewers. But according to you all matches should be treated the same, about 30 extra FTA matches, once again not relevant :(/ - just who is taking the piss?

So it's not really about extra Fox games it's about extra FTA games?

The NRL have 2 evening games and one afternoon game on FTA. The AFL have 2 evening games and 2 afternoon games. So the only real difference is an extra afternoon game which isn't watched by many more viewers than some of the bigger foxtel games because it's outside prime time.

Both codes have advantages and disadvantages in scheduling making a direct comparison difficult. The NRL show 6-8 individual games to its entire audience every weekend. The AFL only show 5-6 because all but one are shown concurrently. NRL ratings for each game are counted over 2 hours meaning the average audience is closer to the peak compared to the AFLs 3 hours. The NRL have 3 high rating rep games the AFL don't have.

But once all these factors are considered the AFL wins comfortably. It's not our fault you signed a 5 year deal with a shite schedule. :drunk:

You seem to conveniently forget that 2/3 of our matches are shown on delay, some arent shown to after 10'oclock on two hour delay a much geater Cross to bear than your overlapping matches excuse that you whinge incessantly about.

Your complaining about the very nature of the game now! I cant help it that your game is long winded - drawn out and boring as hell

Both sides have there contacts and there problems associated with them But, your living in a dreamworld! the NRL ratings on PTV are better, on FTA are better - live with it.
