WSW the most popular club in WS

Post by sydneyfc »

first of all, i am for one not surprised. I was under the impression that the 20k members that parry eels was talking about were full season ticket holders...obviously i was wrong and they included junior members, pet members, 3 game pass holders and things of that ilk

I always thought a real member of a club was someone with a season ticket ie:payed for all home games....looks like the NRL have been pulling the wool over our eyes

now i am not going to be a hypocrite - my own club claimed 20k members last season even though 9,000 of those were junior memberships. But the wiley wanderers have gobbled up the eels, chewed and spat them out in 1 go

A-League's Wanderers top the list for membership sales in western Sydney

DateSeptember 1, 2014 - 5:07PM

Dominic Bossi

Western Sydney Wanderers can perhaps already lay claim to being the most popular sporting team in Sydney's western suburbs – they have sold more full memberships than any other football club in the region.

The emerging powerhouses of Australian football are preparing for just their third season but have already sold 2000 more individual season tickets than five other western suburbs football clubs.

The Wanderers have already exceeded the full-season ticket sales of the Parramatta Eels, Penrith Panthers, Wests Tigers, Canterbury Bulldogs, and Greater Western Sydney Giants. This is despite the A-League season not beginning for another month.

By the numbers: The sales figures tell the story.

They play their first home game on October 25.

More than 15,333 of their existing season ticket-holders have been retained from last year and the Wanderers are on course to sell their entire allocation of memberships before they will go on sale to the general public.

Due to the limited capacity of 21,487 at Pirtek Stadium, the A-League club is first offering existing members the opportunity to retain their season tickets before those on a waiting list will be given a chance to become ticket-holding members.

The club redesigned the seating plan to accommodate more fans this season and while a final number is yet to be determined, it is likely a membership limit of just under 16,000 will be hit before the end of next week, if memberships continue to sell at the current rate.

As a result of the large uptake, the Wanderers are beginning to issue non-ticketed memberships to supporters. Some are opting to pay up to $80 to join a waiting list for a season ticket.

The record sales ensures the Wanderers will already eclipse the second-highest figure sold by their co-tenants at Pirtek Stadium, the Parramatta Eels, who claim 12,900 of their 20,300 members as season-ticket holders. The Eels also suffer the capacity restrictions in Parramatta and have to accommodate their large number of walk-up sales and three-game membership packages.

The sales further strengthens the push for major renovations for Pirtek Stadium to improve the capacity to more than 30,000 as the two most popular clubs, in terms of members, are regular tenants.

Both the Eels and the Wanderers are lobbying the NSW government to improve the facilities and capacity of the venue.

The two clubs set the benchmark for season-ticket holders but are closely followed by AFL club the GWS Giants, who claim approximately 11,800 season-ticketed members, although about 30 per cent of those are registered only for games played in Canberra.

A Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs membership drive clinched 15,500 members, though only about 8000 are season-ticket holders. Penrith Panthers boast 6872 full-members while Wests Tigers have 7553 mostly venue-specific members.

the tigers figure is simply embarrassing

2 clubs merged

decades and decades of history

splitting season tickets..lets draw a line straight down the middle

roughly 3.4k season tickets sold in campbelltown, and the same figure in leichhardt

3.4k season tickets sold in a PRO RL heartland like CTOWN....simply, embarrassing

This was last month.

Hmmmmmmmm.

http://www.parraeels.com.au/news/2014/0 ... bers_.html

The Dyldam Parramatta Eels have won this year’s Race to 20K, hitting 20,312 Members tonight as we take on the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs!

It’s a record Membership base for the club, surpassing the 20,000 mark for the first time, and passing our goal for the 2014 season.

We couldn’t do it without each and every one of our fantastic Members who have embraced the club like never before - thank you for all your loyalty and support as we welcomed back long-term Members and introduced new Members to the Eels.

We now have the third-highest Membership base in the NRL, eclipsing our previous record of 17,206 set last season.

We’re excited to see growth in all our Membership categories, including more than 3,000 Junior Members, 1,300 Members living in the Northern Territory and almost 15,000 of our Members taking a ticketed option, guaranteeing their part in the Blue and Gold Army at one of our games.
strange stuff.

ok, you prove that.

You have no idea of the break down.

For all we know, the wsw could be all pet memberships so if I were you, i wouldn't be saying shit.

The eels have 15k ticketed members with differing options, they also have over 20,000 members of one sort or another and that is coming from a base 5 years ago of 500. They have played like busteds for the last 4 years and each year the members have grown to where they are now. More than your WSW, yet you think this is bad.

Get off the crack.

the article clearly states that the numbers are based on TRUE season tickets = every home game

since i joined this forum i was under the impression that the nrl numbers were also based on the same thing

how wrong i was....in you're desperation your 20k includes the following
-3 game passes
-5 game passes
-pet memberships
-juniors
-$20 happy bag deals with a free cap for toddlers

etc

you loser

every single one of WSW renewals are full season ticket holders. They can be compared to stadium members, but for 1 sport. You're team just doesn't have as many, get over it and accept you got proven wrong for the 424th time on here

oh iunno....did you miss this part?

the definition of a season ticket holder = someone who has paid for and has access to every home game of the regular season

not a 3 game pass
not a 5 game pass

not a junior membership...or a pet 1

A FULL SEASON TICKET

if reading long texts isn't your strong point....he's an image that depicts the WSW being superior to your backwards eels :D

Image

and the worst thing of all....you are the direct reason of this. people like you who have never been to a game, you and elijah haven't been outside your house for years and refuse to go to games

Hurry up and show these mysterious figures I can't see in your article.

yeah it says 12,000, the other 3 thousand might have 6 game passes, they all might have 3 game passes, they also could be 1 game passes, the article does not say, so you keep speculating what they are. The link to the Parra article breaks it down more, but you ignored that.

A season ticket holder, when do they count it, before the first home game?

Are you still a full season ticket member if you bye one halfway through the year?

Stop talking shit when you don't have all the facts, one article spinning its anti League shit pro everything else article as it does all the time says something completely different to what the eels were saying to THEIR members.

All I know is, Parramatta have 20,000+ members now after being garbage for years and you seem to laugh at that when the WSW don't have that many. Who is to say of those current 20,000 Plus members Parra have now, won't all buy a season ticket next year because they club has turned the corner, would you be such a mouth then?

2 years ago when parra had around 10k members all up, some on here were laughing when the eels said they wanted 40,000 members by a certain year, haven't heard much from them lately even though the team was playing like shit.

So in other words, when you get a membership base bigger than Parra, get an average crowd bigger for more than one season (start dominating LOL) get more people watching them on TV either Pay or FTA and outsell them in Merchandise season after season after season, you may have something.

Fuck, you and your sokka lot really have turned me against this mob, I can't wait for the usual sokka crash and burn

Better keep winning :<> :<> :<> :<> :<> :<> :<>
