Gold Coast - No Ablett, no finals??
You could really see the Suns missing Ablett in the last quarter. No drive out of the centre and no composure around the ground. This is one they let slip and could cost them a chance at the finals?? Who can provide the leadership and composure in his absence?? They will need somebody to stand up and be counted in these last few games. Shame the injury will probably cost the Suns a final appearance and of course Ablett a 3rd Brownlow.

I think it is the leadership factor they will miss on the field. Reality is they have the midfield that is if top quality ... Of course it's better with Ablett but it is still high quality. It's the leadership they need and who will step up.

It was highly likely they woulda missed the finals with Ablett IMO and it's a shame he's injured as people will all say it's because he's not there that they didn't make it. If you look at em closely they've really struggled against the top sides and are about 40% chance of winning or lower when playing teams that are between and inclusive of 13th and 5th. That's not a top 8 side in anyone's book and the gc have been lucky there's a basketcase league sitting at the bottom of the AFL table.

It did look like they were going to make it but it is now clear that the young players are still not quite developed enough to be a good solid side. Maybe another year or 2 they will be there.

A little concerned with some of the stats from the Lions vs Suns first qtr that's for sure. Still think the Suns will scrape into the 8 though.
